Well, tank mode is official. The Knicks should seriously consider trading Melo while he has some value instead of wasting the rest of his prime on a rebuilding team. Lakers seem like a realistic possibility.

    knicks trade:

    Carmelo Anthony

    Lakers trade:

steve Nash, Jeremy Lin, Julius Randle and a 1st round pick for Melo

also, the sixers need pure shooters on their roster. Seems like Hardaway Jr. would fit well next to MCW. Would the consider trading the rights to Dario Saric for Tim?

No way the sixers trade a player they don’t have to worry about helping them win while he still gets to develop for a player you can get in the draft potentially with the Miami heats pick. Not to mention Covington is a pretty good shooter so far from what i’ve seen.

Melo has a horrid contract. $26 mill per year at 34yo, then at 35yo he has a player option of just under $28mill in 18/19.

There is only one team in the NBA who would pay this stupid amount for this cancer and that is the KNICKS. The Nets 18-24 months ago would of been stupid enough to pay this but they have learnt their lesson. Even the Kings would not be interested.

The Knicks will not advance past the first round of the playoffs till after 2019 due to Melo’s contract….

Someone would be interested in Melo. Lakers, Clippers and Bulls at the top of the list

The Lakers already have one overpaid ball hog in Kobe, no way would they want a second one in Melo.

Clips and Bulls cannot afford Melo and would not want that cancer to break their team chemistry anyway….

Where are your facts stating that melo is a cancer? Seems like everyone just goes off of the same public opinion nowadays

Are you serious ?  Do you actually think Melo is an asset to have on your team and he is worth that contract ?

The fact is Melo is probably still the best scorer in the NBA. And teams were lining up to sign him this past offseason. I personally don’t like his game but he is still very desirable.

I know they’re friends, but there’s never been a worse fit with Kobe. Randle and a 1st round pick are the only assets the Lakers have. Jordan Hill had value before he hit cruise control this month. I can’t think of a worse thing for the Lakers to do.

This year they’ve sent a bunch of low-ball offers out there: they offered Jordan Hill and some change for Rondo and tried to get Dion Waiters with Robert Sacre (hah). I think they should keep on tanking (accidentally or otherwise) and grab any help for cheap. They need to stay away from the Carmelo’s and Josh Smith’s of the world… they already have one.

Knicks will want to come up with trade ideas for Calderon out and an expiring contract in.

With Carmelo’s huge contract, bad knee and no-trade clause it is close to impossible to trade him.  A move to the Lakers is possible, but Lakers won’t send out draft picks.

Calderon and Aldrich to Thunder for expiring K Perkins.  Might make sense.

Contenders would be happy to add Calderon, and maybe rebuilding teams would take Calderon for an ending contract if the Knicks added something to the deal.

Apparently Phil Jackson has the hots for Reggie Jackson out of OKC. This would give the knicks an agressive penetrating guard who knows how to play with superstars. Also, OKC probably can’t resign him as he is a restricted free agent who will command more than they are willing to pay on the open market. There’s a good chance that Hardaway Jr. could be involved in any trade.
