There is no protection.  Their pick goes to Denver…or Orlando. Either way, they don’t get their own 1st.

I think they don’t have a first rounder until 2018.

Neither the Knicks nor Brooklyn have picks for a while. It could get really ugly in New York…

It seems like not long ago we were saying how the Nets picks would be in the 20’s and Atlanta really didn’t get much value for Joe Johnson….that deal is looking better by the day…that being said I still think the Nets will make the playoffs.

        Major edit:

New York does have 2015 and 2017 first rounders, but they’re untradeable. Gotta believe they’d attach one to Shumpert in exchange for a big man if they could.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn has no control over their first rounders until after 2018. Atlanta and Boston can swap their picks for Brooklyn’s over the years, etc. (Atlanta can this season.) I got that confused with Brooklyn having no picks at all. Not sure why. Need that afternoon coffee.

NBA rules forbid teams from trading their first-round draft pick in successive seasons. So they have the 2015 and 2017

"The final deal, as now fully disclosed, was Johnson for Jordan Farmar (bought out); Jordan Williams (bought out), DeShawn Stevenson (sign-and-trade), Anthony Morrow, Johan Petro, the Rockets picks (lottery protected) in 2013, the swap of first rounders in 2014 and 2015, and the Nets second rounder in 2017."
