StF616ParticipantI really think these two will be the next great big men in the nba.
Kevin Love –
He really reminds me of Bill Walton everytime i watch him play. (Not that i ever watched Bill Walton in the time he played because i wasn’t even born yet, i’ve just watche reruns and other stuff of his games). They even have similar career stats. The oonly real big difference is Bill Waltons Shot blocking and his high shooting percentage. Kevin Love shoots at a low percentage for a Big Man (45% for his career). Also, A big difference is there playign times as Walton averages 8 more minutes a game as a rookie than Love does. Anyway Here Are their stats through their first 3 seasons:
1st Season:
Bill Walton:12.8 PPG 12.6 RPG APG 4.8 51.3% FG 68.6% FT 2.7 BPG 32.9 MPG
Kevin Love:11.1 PPG 9.1 RPG 1.0 APG 45.9% FG 78.9% FT 0.6 BPG 25.3 MPG
2nd Season:
Bill Walton:16.1 PPG 13.4 RPG 4.3 APG 47.1% FG 58.3% FT 1.6 BPG 33.1 MPG
Kevin Love:14.0 PPG 11.0 RPG 2.3 APG 45% FG 81.5% FT 0.4 BPG 28.6 MPG
3rd Season:
Bill Walton:18.6 PPG 14.4 RPG 3.8 APG 52.8% FG 69.7% FT 3.2 BPG 34.8 MPG
Kevin Love:18.9 PPG 14.5 RPG 1.9 APG 43.7% FG 88.6% FT 0.4 BPG 32.8 MPG
Career Through 3 Seasons:
Bill Walton:16.4 PPG 13.6 RPG 4.1 APG 50.4% FG 65.7% FT 2.5 BPG 33.8 MPG GP:151
Kevin Love:13.0 PPG 10.3 RPG 1.6 APG 45.2% FG 81.1% FT 0.5 BPG 27.3 MPG GP:157
Career Through 3 Seasons Per 36 Minutes:
Bill Walton:17.4 PPG 14.4 RPG 4.3 APG 2.6 BPG
Kevin Love:17.1 PPG 13.58 RPG 2.1 APG 0.6 BPG
Now to Blake Griffin
Blake Griffin – I really dont want to overrate Blake Griffin, especially with only 16 Games Through the season. But, everytime i watch him, i see something special. I really think he will be the next great big man of the nba. Better than dwight howard is right now. Maybe at the end of his career one of the top 10 Power Forwards Of All Time, it is too early to tell, But Unless Blake is Plagued by injuries, it is very difficult for me not to think he will not be great. He is playing better than any other power forward right now not name Pau Gasol or Dirk Nowitzki. He already has good post moves, using his strength, speed and natural feel for the game. He has a good form in his jumpshot. And is already on of the best rebounders in the league as a rookie. But one thing tha jumps out the most on Griffin is his passing ability. He is averaging 2.4 Assists a game this season he has had four 4 assist games one 5 assist game one 7 assist game and some other games with 2 or 3 assists. I really dont know who to compare him to. At first, i thought Karl Malone, But Karl Malone is a scorer, and he never really was a GREAT rebounder, he was a double double threat. But he never averaged more than 12 rebounds a game through his career and blake could already beat that in his rookie season.I also thought Shawn Kemp, They both have the same Athleticism. Just Great Offensive rebounders (Blake is averaging 4 offensive rebounds a game while kemp averaged 3 for his career). But Kemp was never the player that i see griffin being. In his prime i see Griffin putting up Barkley or Moses Like numbers. But For Right now. He is too young. He still has alot to learn. But barring injury, i think griffin will be one of the great big men of this generation. maybe even all time.

StF616ParticipantThe only problem with both if these players is, they aren’t winning. They’re both in losing teams.
But losing is not just from one person. So right now, we really cant blame these two players for their teams losing, especially with both of them having young, inexperienced, rebuilding teams.

HitsterParticipantThe Clippers currently have 3 rookies starting and the other two starters are only in their 3rd season and one was a 2nd round draftee so there is very little experience in the starting 5. Once Kaman and Davis get back then the Clippers may improve whilst Griffin’s productivity may fall but having won their last two games then maybe they are turning the corner.
Since they traded KG, we have been waiting for the T-Wolves to try and improve and wondering who would be the player to spark their revival – Al Jefferson ( since traded), Johnny Flynn, K-Love, Ricky Rubio ( if he ever comes over), Michael Beasley, Wesley Johnson even Darko. And whilst several of these guys have or are putting up great stats, they are not turning them into wins yet.

StF616ParticipantHitster, are you like british or something? whats up with the "whilst"???
0- Posted on: Fri, 11/26/2010 - 9:23am #444516
HitsterParticipantYes, I’m British, I follow the games via ESPN or Sky TV in the UK, also watch as many games as I can on the web, I’ve been into Basketball for a fair few years since the Bird/Jordan era. I’ve seen the UK national team play a fair few times at an arena not far from me. We do use different words like Center is spelt Centre in the UK, we also write the date differently with day before month i.e 26/11 as opposed to 11/26 etc.

OhCanada-ParticipantThese 2 Forwards should be nice rivals going forward. The great battle between fundimentals and athlitisism. I must say thou Griffins fundimentals should not be underlooked. Also they are both on argueably the 2 worst teams ibn the league.

SteroidParticipantThat is the biggest thing for me when I think about Griffin: injuries…
He plays so &$#%#&@! hard to the point where almost everytime he goes for a rebound or dunks, you hope he doesn’t hurt himself. I won’t go as far as saying he is injury prone, but he already has a history. It’s good that he can bounce back though. When he gets older, it won’t be as easy. I only watched a little of the game last night, and there were two times where I thought he could have gotten hurt.

jaysmith1987ParticipantBlake Griffin and Kevin Love are Definately the future they are both great rebounders only thing they dont have is that prototypical height for the pf position but boh are fundementally sound and excellent offensive players. Kevin Love should get a vote for most improved with the 30point 30rebound game thats amazing and hes done it against good comp. Blake Griffins 40point game against the knicks i think that put him ahead of the rookie of the year race. I’m really pulling for Blake Griffin to be in the all-star game he deserves it.

MkadozaParticipantWow… Love equals Walton? Anyone who’s seen Walton play said he was as skilled a center as anyone ever. Including Kareem, Olajuwan, etc.. However I can see the similarities. He’s closer to Sabonas in the NBA and Vlade, but I see where your going.
Blake… Continuing the milatto take over. Drake, Jeter, Obama, D Will, Tiger…. theyre coming…
Nevermind… theyre here!!!!!!!!
