Kevin Knox of the New York Knicks has been playing really well lately. I feel like he can be a great scorer in the NBA for a long time. What does everyone think his potential is?

He’s still so young (barely 19) so it’s hard to tell. He is in a situation where he is likely to get featured a lot on offense for a team that isn’t necessarily concerned with winning. Young players can sometimes develop bad habits in those situations but hopefully that’s not the case with Knox. He’s athletic with a good first step and a smooth jumper. Ball-handling and passing still need work. Has the tools to be a solid, switchable defender but will see if he can develop into one. He is not scoring the ball very efficiently right now (38% FG) but that’s somewhat excusable given that he is being given more freedom than his skill set and experience would dictate.

If Knox can develop into a reliable second or third scoring option behind porzingis and whatever big name the Knicks hope to sign this or next offseason, as well as expand the rest of his game, the Knicks will probably be thrilled with that. He definitely has potential, but he’s just so young and the Knicks are so bad right now, that it’s kind of hard to tell how that potential will eventually translate.

NY is a good situtation for him to have all the freedom, to me playing time is one of the most important factors for a player to develop of course with the right coaching, players around him and organization

I think he could become a better version of Tobias Harris.

I haven’t seen Knox play much….. but I think Tobias Harris is really good. Tobias is very possibly an All Star this year or next, and will probably net a 90+ Million contract this offseason.

So what are you thinking as a comp / ceiling for Knox? Someone along the means of Antawn Jamison, Glenn Robinson, or Jamal Mashburn?

I actually think the player he most resembles in terms of body type and skill set is Rudy Gay. Doesn’t necessarily mean he will develop the same way or follow the same career path gay did.

Rudy never lived up to his poential. Watching Kevin out there he plays with a lot of heart and looks like he wants to get better and he’s only 19.
