GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantFirst I have to say WOW. Unlike the big blue madness these boys played defense this time. The depth in talent on this team is unbelievable, even the low ranked recruits were out there doing work
Andrew Harrison- didn’t do a whole lot and ended up sitting out most of the game wit had brused knee. It was already bruised before the game and he reinsured it. Not considered serious.
Aaron Harrison- he showed why he was the top ranked SG in the class. His handles were on point and his J work was deadly. Also played unselfish finished with 19 I think
Alex Poythress- doesn’t look like he has gotten any better. He’s still athletic with a man body but doesn’t seem to have that killer in him. He was trying to be aggressive but seemed to get down when he missed a shot. Will come off the bench because………
…James Young clearly took his spot. Earlier in the month some NBA scouts watched UK practice and said they think he’s the best player in the country, at the time most (including me laughed) at that. After watching this game I’m no longer laughing. Young was completely dominate in this game on offense and defense. He drove the lane for lay ups and dunks, hit mid range shots, hit deep shots, blocked a couple shots and got steals. Alex tried to guard him but he had no chance because this kid has a very quick first step and has no problem stopping on the dime and pulling up. Finished with 25pts
Willie Cauley stein- man did he get better. He was aggressive in the paint on offense, aggressive on the boards and played good help defense. The is not a big man who gets up and down the court as fast as he does. I see why he was a wide receiver in H.S. Finished with 15
Marcus Lee- classic garbage man, the kid is all out hustle, runs the floor, blocks shots, rebounds and finish’s alleys with ease. Needs to get stronger though because he was pushed around by every big he guarded but he will fight and hustle. A good pack up PF and third string C
Dakari Johnson- showed why he is the top ranked center in his class. Killed on the glass and moved Lee and WCS with ease. Not the most athletic guy but gets up and down the floor, gets great position and finishes close to the basket. Finished with 14 and 10 rebounds
Derek Willis- told people the kid is better than people think. As a Jr he was a top 50 player. He kid was hitting mid range, deep shots and lay ups with skill and long arms- finished with 21
Julius Randle- BEAST. Controlled the boards then pushed the ball and finished with power. Played point forward and was a man child. Finished with 21pts 9 Rebs
Kentucky looked like one if the few teams that seemed to be adjusting to the new hand check rules nicely. I think its due to the fact that their guards are tall so they can play far off and recover plus they know if they get beat they have tall athletic shot blockers backing them up.
On a side note some walk on high jumper got a and 1 by dunking on Julius Randle. Lol

lakeshow22ParticipantExactly how good did James Young look offensevly and how did he score his points? Will he be Kentucky’s leading scorer? Top 5 pick?

Lafferty DanielParticipantGood to hear that Young looked solid. I haven’t seem him play a lot, but I hear great things from those that have.
Randle playing point forward just goes to show how many diiferent lineups UK can throw out there whenever they want. This team is built for a deep run in March.

flopdownDI will be honest. Last highlights i watched of James Young he looked very nice, like he could effortlessly pull up off the dribble.
Prior to that single highlight, all others i didnt like.
I actually havent seen him play, i use to not like him… But for the most part, tall/long SGs who can shoot are my favorite players.0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/29/2013 - 10:39pm #846065

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantYoung scored every way you can imagine. Deep threes, mid range, drives for layups and drives for dunks. Can get anywhere he wants on the floor and is very athletic. Based on this scrimmage and from what NBA scouts have said he can be a top 5 pick. But remember its still just a scrimmage so have to take it with a grain of salt. What was surprising was how good he was on defense, I mean potential lock down type defender. Looked a lot like James Harden on offense as far as showing different ways to score.
I have to admit this UK teams looks better and much deeper than the title winning team based on each teams blue white game. And that was with Andrew Harrison basically sitting out. They played together like they genuinely like each other and they were so unselfish

sanchopanzaLouisville-Kentucky will be epic. Who you guys got? I’ll take Louisville with the superior backcourt and experience

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantExperience yeah..better back court no. UK is much longer and much deeper with more talent. I expect the same outcome as the year UK played them with Anthony Davis. The new hand checking rules are going to hurt UK more than any other team outside of Duke
