RUDEBOY_ParticipantI seriously doubt he goes top 5…Every year the media ,announcers and fans over hype players and Walker is a victim of this …There is no place for him in the top 5..He won’t beat out Sullinger,Kanter,Irving or the Jones boys…Plus Selby is looking like the 2nd best point guard prospect..Brandon Knight is rated higher than Walker..And if Renaldo Sidney can clean up his act…He has the talent to be a top 10 pick..Then there are guys like Barnes,Motiejunas,Derrick Williams,Trey Thompkins and Vesely there might not be room in the lottery for Walker..Before the start of the season,Walker was listed as a late 1st or early 2nd round pick..Memphis might take a chance on him in the late lottery….I see Walker going in the 12 to 25 range….He reminds me of Jameer Nelson..If you remember Nelson was a player of the year candidate, alot of people thought he’ll be a high pick..But Nelson fell to the late 1st round….

Demarcus OnealParticipantSadly closer we get to the draft unless Uconn has a strong NCAA tournament, scouts will take in workout and combines more into consideration as well as potential and size instead of actual production. Hopefully Kemba can keep up this level of play, He really suprised everyone with his much improved play.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantI see your point but I have to disagree. This is the most wide-open draft I can remember because there are no perfect prospects…except for, in my mind, Kemba Walker. "Perfect" does not mean "greatest," but I think he’s the surest thing right now.
– Irving might have been, but he’s injured and not a top-shelf athlete. I don’t hold that against him, but when you look at past #1 pick PG’s (Rose and Wall), he just doesn’t have that potential.
– Draftexpress, which more actively compiles player measurements, lists Kanter at 6-9/250. That is NOT NBA center size, and he’s not a 10/10 athlete by any means. The same goes for Sullinger; unless he continues to dominate through the very end of the tournament it’s so hard to imagine, in this day and age, a 6-8 PF going top 2.
– As for the Joneses, there are doubts as to whether Perry Jones will ever care to fulfill his potential and Terrence Jones is widely viewed as having great, but not #1-level talent.
Can the same be said about Walker? This site states that he’s as quick and athletic as Irving, he’s averaging 26.7 ppg on 48.6%/84% shooting, he’s making 2.5 threes a game (someone tell me he can’t shoot), nabbing 5 boards, and though he’s only averaging 3.8 assists, he proved last year that he could be a pass-first PG. This year his team just needs him so badly to score. If Jonny Flynn can go top 6, Walker can go top 5.

the lake showYou don’t have to be a certain weight or height to be a good/great/HOF NBA center so lets stop with the " this guys cant be a NBA insert position becase of height"
From what i’ve read alot of NBA scouts are very high on Kemba and this draft doesn’t seem to have a guy who is thought to be a future Superstar. At best they THINK these players could be future AllStars

sheltwon3ParticipantIt depends on who actually comes out, Kemba Walker could be that high but I see him at best in the 6 to 11 range. He is a scoring point and he is having a great year but I am not sold on him translating into a great NBA player.

the lake showNone of the guys look like they will translate to great NBA players right now. Maybe Allstars. Not every draft is gonna have a game changer, alot of people don’t realize that and think someone is ranked too high on the draft board because of what some other player in the past that was drafted at the same position did in the NBA

bdoody42ParticipantFlynn should have never went top 6. I had Lawson and Curry and many other ahead of him. Right now Flynn can’t even beat out Ridnour.
I think Walker will go late lottery to late teens in this years draft. He could become a top ten pick if many players are nervous about a potential lockout.

Mr. 19134ParticipantDX just did a great piece about Kemba Walker and instead of posting it i’m just going to sum it up. Basically every scout around the country right now is talking about one player above all the most and that is Kemba Walker. Scouts are really high on this kid. They compared him to everybody from Ben Gordon, to Aaron Brooks and Marcus Thornton. I really like the Aaron Brooks comparison and thats who I said Walker was going to play like coming into the year.
Before this season I had Walker as one of my top 5 picks to win National Player of the Year Candidate and I got chastised for it. But anybody who watched Walker play before this season knew 2 things about him: He was as fast as anybody you are going to see in college basketball with or without the ball, and he was oozing with the type of potential and ability to take over games become unguardable. Well Walker has finally done that just as he was doing at the end of last season. Walker didn’t come out of nowhere he has steadily improved since he arrived raw at UCONN and really took off at the end of last season.
Walker will go top ten in the draft and this is why. Kemba Walker already has a few NBA ready skills that will transalte right away. Scoring, shooting, speed, and energy. Walker is a great shooter. This is where the Ben Gordon, Brooks, and Thornton comparisons came into. Walker has the ability to become a spot up shooter out on the perimeter just like them 3 and stretch defenses. Gordon went number 3 in a stacked draft because of the skills Walker has, sure Walker don’t have Gordon’s freakish frame but Gordon don’t have Walker’s speed. Walker is also able to go to an NBA team and run a pick and roll offense right away. The pick and roll offense an take years for young PG’s to pick up all the little nuances, luckily as an NBA ready JR Kemba already possess them and then some. Not only can you not go under the screen guarding Kemba because he will drill the long shot, but if you go up top Walker will have a step on you and use his speed to easily get into the lane where he can convert around the basket at a high rate.
Augustin went 9 with players like Brook Lopez on the board and Anthony Randolph. If a team needs a PG in the top 10 ten Walker is going to be in the conversation trust me. It don’t matter if Irving, Knight, and Selby are still on the board teams will be taking Walker into consideration.
And one more point somebody said up top by the time the draft comes around teams will be more focused on the workouts and not production. Walker has the type of skill set to light fire to draft workouts. Expect him to go to workouts and shoot lights out and make everybody else look slow and stabilize a top ten pick. Look at Flynn and Flynn is not even as close to being as talented as Walker or fast.

Mr. 19134ParticipantI doubt it too but remember people were really low on Selby too I have been saying he should be a top 10 pick all year too. It all depends on what team needs are. Somebody like the Bobcats might want a more NBA ready player who they feel can contribute right away at a high level. And Selby is a playmaking off ball guard right now he can’t control the tempo of a game yet but he can shoot and pass and is the most athletic out of the 4.

JoeWolf1I think he’s late lottery, somewhere in the 11-14 range. Many people feel he is lower, but I think he can jump right in and score off the bench and teams will view him as a guy who will eventually be a starter in the league. He has good size, and is a good defender. I think he’ll prove that he can carry a team and win as the season progresses. You know he’s gonna test well at the combine ( which adds for a little more May/June hype whether it really has any merit or not). Of the teams that will be in that range I could see Pheonix, Toronto, and Charlotte( MJ loves upper class men from big programs) all taking a chance at him.

Mr. 19134ParticipantStanford What everybody was low on Selby this sight didn’t even have him on this years mock they had him in the 2nd Round of 2012!!! That was so ridiculous i had to make a thread about it and then somebody told me Aran isn’t that high on Selby. I think this sight finally got him on this years mock somewhere in the 20’s which is still lame. Even DX had him in the 2nd round of this years draft before the season started. I thought he was as surefire lotto pick and a possible National Player of the Year Candidate..yeah I was a little high on … PG is my favorite position that’s why I like so many PG’s like Selby and Walker.

JoeWolf1Selby’s a guy who I think is accurately rated in the 20’s right now, but who could definately rise but June. His first couple games I thought he was a Ben Gordon clone, but after watching his last two he’s shown good court vision and effectiveness running the break and has potential playing the point. He’s an awful post passer which is the biggest knock I have on him, at least once a game he throws the ball out of bounds or right to a defender trying to feed the post, but it’s 4 games into his freshman year. The things that I’d say about him that has impressed me most, is his ability to successfully operate in the offense without trying to do too much and his defensive ability, those two things have really impressed me for an 18 year old with a lot of hype.
