Every year, MaxPreps comes out with its Junior, Sophomore and Freshman All-Americans, and here they are for 2011:

     http://www.maxpreps.com/news/krYtzWrWEeCkhgAcxJSkrA/boys-basketball-junior-all-american-team-.htm (Class of 2012)

    http://www.maxpreps.com/news/_YxfCGxkEeCkhgAcxJSkrA/boys-basketball-sophomore-all-american-team.htm (Class of 2013)

    http://www.maxpreps.com/news/DbxYO275EeCkhgAcxJSkrA/boys-basketball-freshmen-all-american-team.htm (Class of 2014)

The Players of the year for each class were:

2012: Tony Parker, 6’8, 260 C/PF from Georgia who averaged 17.5 ppg, 15.6 rpg and 3.9 bpg while leading his team to a Class AAAA title.

2013: Aquille Carr, 5’7, 155, PG who topped his fantastic freshman season with averages of 32 ppg, 6 apg and 5 rpg while leading his Patterson Clippers to the Maryland state finals.

2014: Trey Lyles, 6’8, 200, PF/C already verballed to Indiana, Trey averaged 18 and 12 to start off a promising HS career. He plays his HS ball in Indiana and looks to be a very promising prospect.

I know, these guys are young, and I have no real idea what most of their NBA prospects are at this point, but sometimes the best players do indeed start showing signs at a young age. These are just a list of players who have had impressive young HS careers and many of whom could blossom into prospects down the line. The younger they are, the harder it is to predict their future, plus their are names left out I am sure we will see great things from, but I just wanted to give you all a chance to maybe state some knowledge on prospects you know about and to see who this site felt played the best during their respective HS years. Plus, maybe register some names that are new to you to keep in mind. I will also list the first teams, just for you all to see if you are too lazy to follow the link:

    2012

    C/PF Tony Parker

SF/PG Kyle Anderson 6’8, 200, St. Anthony NJ

    PF/C DaJuan Coleman, 6’9, 280, Jamesville-DeWitt NY

PF Perry Ellis, 6’8, 220 (listed on site, though I think he is bigger), Wichita Heights KS

    G Devauntes Smith-Rivera, 6’3, 215, North Central IN

    2013

    PG Aquille Carr

PF Aaron Gordon (younger brother of New Mexico’s Drew Gordon), 6’7, 195, Archbishop Mitty CA

F Jabari Parker, 6’8, 215, Simeon HS IL

PF Julius Randle, 6’8, 220, Prestonwood Christian TX

    PG Tahj Shamsid-Dean, 5’10, 150, Columbia GA

    2014

    Trey Lyles

G James Blackmon (also verbally committed to Indiana), 6’2, 170 Bishop Luers IN

G Dominick Collier, 6’1, 160, Denver East CO

G Tyus Jones, 5’11, 160, Apple Valley MN

    G Isaiah Whitehead, 6’3, 170, Lincoln NY

For your traditional plug of everything and anything Illinois, more succinctly Chicago, related. We will keep that in mind, though both are off too awesome starts. Jahlil Okafor as well in the class of 2014, and I think their is a wing guy named Paul White who is also on Whitney Young.

As far as Aquille Carr goes, he is incredibly fun to watch, at least from what I have seen. His accomplishments are quite impressive thus far and I too am very interested in seeing what the future holds. Will he keep it local for college, or will he possibly be lured to a bigger school? Either way, his size makes him hard to evaluate as a next level player, but he is showing flashes of being big time. His release appears to be incredibly quick as well, which helps a lot.

One guy who has been sort of slept on as a prospect in 2012 as of late is Perry Ellis. Dime Magazine did an article on him as a freshman saying he might be the first pick in the draft whenever he enters, which is just a ridiculous thing to do to a HS freshman, but nonetheless he was 6’8 and had a solid frame. Seems like many top prospects at a young age, he did not grow the extra 3-4 inches everyone thinks they will. Remember guys, their was a reason Anthony Davis and others like him burst on the scene, guys who hit late growth spurts are rare. Most of the top guys early on in the rankings are about as tall as they are going to be, maybe a couple more inches max.

Nonetheless, with Perry Ellis, he was hurt during portions of this summer, but every year has killed it in HS and seems to do well against his peers. Definitely a McDonald’s All-American early candidate and would expect him to make some noise when all is said and done. Zach Peters is another player who burst onto the scene early and than never found his way back up the rankings, but odds are both of these guys are legit long term prospects. Peters was 6’9 as a 14 year old, and I do not think he has grown much, but he verballed to Kansas, which is where Ellis is from and could be a possible leader for him.

Here was a cool video of Mark Aguirre working with Zach Peters from a few years ago. Have to figure he learned at least a little from working with Aguirre, their is a lot to take in:

I’m pretty sure we will be able to add Andrew Wiggins to that list when it’s all said and done. Anyone know where he’s gonna play his HS ball?

Is definitely going to have a chance to be on that freshman team, and in past posts I have highlighted how he generally destroyed during this past year at Vaughan.  Here is one of the schools he is rumored to be going to:

    http://cfcaathletics.olinesports.com/

They are in North Carolina and have a roster full of Canadian imports. They are coached by Canadian mainstay Ro Russell, and it is the rumor that Andrew will be on the roster next year. Yet to get any concrete proof, so he could still be going somewhere else, but I would not be surprised if he was playing for Christian Faith Center Academy come next year.
