     Josh Selby vs. Marshon Brooks

I think this is a interseting topic in this year’s draft. They both are talented players but had very different seasons. Right now I thinks Brooks is more nba ready but I don’t know whose gonna have a better career. What do you guys think?

Marshon is NBA ready. The guy can get his shot off on anyone, can learn to play solid D with his 7’1 wingspan, has all the tools to be a star in this league. I also hear rumors he has a promise from a certain team, and if that is true maybe they will give him a big role and if that is the case I think sky is the limit for the kid.

I would take brooks, more mature, nba ready, massive wind span. I like him alot, Shelby might be good but he will be a project similiar to lance stephenson in my mind, expect without the legal issues

Yea i agree i think Marshon Brooks could potentially be a all-star in this league. Also Josh Selby’s situation reminds me of Avery Bradley’s last year. He has a lot of talent but came out to early and his game isn’t good enough right now to get significant minutes in nba.

They are very different players as stated above Brooks is a long lean athletic 6’5.5 with a 7’1 wingspan and can shoot from anywhere while Shelby is 6’3 witha 6’5 wingspan and needs to learn to play the point or the best he can be is a poormans Ben Gordon.

I like Brooks right now, hes who im hoping the Knicks draft, has the tools to be really good one day…

But Selby has a lot of potential, if you ask this question in the next 3 years, the answer might be different

Nothing about Marshon Brooks is even close to saying that he will ever reach All-Star level. I’m trying to figure out since when did Marshon Brooks become this great player…Nobody was talking about this guy during the season very much, and they definitely weren’t saying he was a potential All-Star. What has changed about him since the end of the year?

I think what makes Marshon Brooks such an intriquing prospect is that he is nba ready, has great wingspan and size to play the shooting guard position and if you look at his numbers throughout college he improved vastly every year. He wasn’t talked about much because of the team he played in and if he continues to improve like that I think he could become a really good player

He gained ALOT of hype after his 40-something point game at Georgetown, and a couple weeks later he had that 52 point game vs Notre Dame, without those two games I think we’d be talking about a early second round pick..either way, dudes talented…I dont see the all-star potential, but hes got game..

Nick Young comes up alot when discussing Brooks though, people talk about Young like hes a scrub, hes not..he just lacks consistency, I can see Brooks walking in a similar path

Neither one of those teams have a defender similar to what he’ll face in the NBA. I watched him play Marquette twice and Jimmy Butler made him an inefficient volume shooter. He doesn’t play D, nobody on Providence’s roster since Keno Davis has been coach has. I just don’t see what makes him so great. People weren’t even talking alot about him after the Notre Dame game on these boards. He’s not even as good a prospect as Nick Young was in college. Young was bigger, more athletic, a better shooter and he was more efficient and with more advanced moves.

Before the combine Brooks was a fringe first round prospect, after his wingspan measurement all of a sudden he’s a lottery prospect with All-Star potential. SMH. Even tho he has a long arm, he doesn’t use it to his advantage that much offensively and defensively. He’s a good rebounding guard I’ll give him that.

No way Marshon is an all-star. I’ve seen every game of his career he was a great college player and will be a solid NBA role player.

As of now I think Selby gets picked higher in the draft than Brooks does.  I also think in time Selby will be the better player between the two.  I like both these guys as prospects though.
