I’ve notice by watching Selby that he can attack the rim well, but he relies heavily on the jump shot first preferably the 3 ball.

Will this become a problem for him when he gets to the NBA?

Will he have to rely on his jump shot more or will he have to get to the rack to draw fouls which I know he is capable of to benefit his team?

With all this being said will he end up playing the 2 or will he learn to play the 1 due to his size?

*Although I see his best comparison as being Stevie Franci$e, Jeryd Bayless should go in the mix also as another comparison. He reminds me so much of Bayless right now it’s a shame, because I think he will not become a starter in the league, due to the fact he is a score first guard like Bayless. Bayless can attack the rim as well, but he lives & dies by the jump shot preferably the 3 ball.

He is trying to fit into Kansas’s offense so he has to adjust his game to that, in tonight’s game he has put the ball on the floor quite a few times and has shown he can attack the rim when he wants but you are correct he does sometimes get very comfortable with shooting the three.

I do not think it will be a problem because in the NBA I believe he will thrive in the transition game and being able to run and attack the rim.

I believe at this point due to his athleticism and quickness getting to the rim and getting to the free throw line is where he is most effective but I have no problem when he is feeling it, for him to shoot jump shots, he has proved he is capable of being consistent from the outside.

I am not exactly sure at this point whether or not he can be a PG in the NBA, with Taylor really being there main PG, Selby does not really have a chance to run the offense but has shown flashes of being a good passer, I guess time will tell.

I am not a fan of Kansas BBall @ all, but ever since I seen Selby play I do not mind watching them as long as he is on the court.

I really would have to see more of Selby play to determine that. Bayless is a streaky shooter and to me Selby is more explosive and athletic. Bayless is a combo guard and so far Selby has not been able to play PG for a long enough time or at all really to show that he can really run a team and make proper decisions with the basketball. Selby at this point is a SG who can score anywhere he wants to on the floor. Selby needs to show he can be a guy who can orchestrate an offense and play under extensive ball pressure to show his capabilities as a PG but like I said with Taylor at Kansas running the point he hasn’t been able to show that. He is a special player and has really shown me the hype surrounding him is real.

Jerryd Bayless mix http://www.youtube.com/watch  vs Josh Selby mix  http://www.youtube.com/watch

I see a lot of similarities even with the athleticism/explosiveness although I will give the edge to Selby.

I would say if he’s primarily a shooter then he’d fit in well with the triangle at PG, playing a Derrick Fisher type role next to a superstar.

Nah, his best translatable comparison right now is Ben Gordon. As for Bayless, Selby is tougher, more aggressive, and is a much better passer than Bayless. Plays with a swag’.

What Bayless don’t play with swag, because he is from Phoenix & light skinned? LOL

Does anyone think Selby-Bayless comparison is fair?

I think at the next level, Selby could be similar to O.J. Mayo. Selby could play both positions. Teams could use him for both. I doubt he could be a great passer but a electric scorer. Kinda like a poor man’s Monta Ellis.
