peZt93ParticipantThis years edition of the Jordan Brand Classic International Game will be held today at 3:30pm ET or 21:30 CET.
It’s a game involving some of the best U16 International Prospects.
This Year the european players are all born in 1997 and for those who don’t know, the 1997 generation is probably the most talented european generation in a long time. And most of the european players in this game are supposed to be extremely talented.
They are some other interesting talents too like the Canadian Justin Jackson and the two Australian standouts Ben Simmons and Thon Maker. Here are the rosters

The thing I’m most excited about this game is probably the matchup between the two 7′ phenoms Thon Maker and Georgios Papagiannis. You can watch the game here

European BasketballerParticipantVasileios Charalampopoulos supposedly won’t play in this game. Panathinaikos needed him to play on their practice squad during the Euroleague playoffs to help with the preparation of the team for the playoff series against Barcelona.

SiggyParticipantThanks for the link OP. I’ll be tuning in.
I usually don’t care about these games at all but the int’l one is intriguing to me because of the lack of familiarity.
Im looking forward to seeing the guys I’ve only read about like Bender and Papagiannis0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/13/2013 - 3:31am #762571
European BasketballerParticipantI can tell you that Papagiannis is a defensive specialist.

pohani komaracParticipantthing i noticed in first half
pleyers who play in US don’t pass ball
Maker is kind Garnett like prospect, but needs work on post skills

peZt93ParticipantYeah Thon Maker looks really good, the potential is there but of course very raw. Has tremendous upside.
Extremely disappointed by Stefan Peno. Looks like nothing special.
I was excited to see Dragan Bender but he barely got any touches. Most of the players force to much and try to look good for the scouts etc. So the bigs get very few good touches in the post.

SiggyParticipantThese games are really crappy. I literally fell asleep trying to watch it.
Maybe I’ll give it another shot later if its archived.Anybody wanna give a quick run down on players that stood out?

evantomesParticipantLovro Mazalin and Jamal Murray were MVPs. Murray finished with 24. Cheick Diallo is really athletic, hustles hard. Andrea La Torre had a good game. Thon Maker didn’t have his best game but moves really well for a 7 foot freshman, will be a big time player. Ben Simmons looked good but seemed left hand dominant and forced a lot.

pohani komaracParticipantHard to tell something as some prospects I watched for first time and first impresion is always most “dangerus”, but here are my toughts
Maker—absolutly most itresteng prospect. His mobilty, good athleticisam, good ball handling, lenght and good athleticisam makes him sure future NBA player. Also glad he showed desire to show him self. If he adds strenght and post game could be sure number 1 pick
Papagiannis- I guess he is sure to be pro player atlest on eurolegue level. 7’1 centers don’t come often. Has beard so his body development might be done, still lookend nice phsycly and with proper work I like his chances to be NBA porspect.
Simmons looked best athleticly, some combo forward. Looks bit stack betwen positions like Beasly. Forced some tough plays trying to show him self, but overall showed nome nice understaning of game
Murry was looking like man among boys. Alone holding his team in game. Showed some flasy pases, but at this point lookin more like scorer.
Mazalin showed what I was talking about him. great ballhandling, good understanding of game, versitale game, agresive penetrtion not afriad of taking contact and decent athleticisam. If he could add jumpshoot wich impruved, but still needs work and become quicker relesing ball he has chance develope into high level NBA prospect
Jackson didn’t play anything speciall, but in few plays shoowed great talent, especially in his breakway asist.
Diallo defenetly has atheticisam, rest didn’t notice to much
Silva also showed some itresting potential
Latorre didn’t look like NBA prospect atlest for now, but eurolegue carer should be sure. Skilled, has know how and has poise to make it
Bender made some nice trys, but like I was telling his body still needs mature and he needs learn how to play.
Garcia did not look like NBA prospect, but looks like great euro PG prospect. Betifully controled game as much as one kid can in such situations
Peno disaponted in athleticisam. Hed some good asists, but athleticly he disaponted
Charalampopoulos (euroballer will kill me)…to me it’s questionable can he even make beter euro carer. Maybe he will develope in futer, but at moment looks like typical kid who developed faster. He has some skills and looks tough, but to me his upside looks very questionable
here are stats

European BasketballerParticipantPedoulakis said that Charalampopoulos was doing OK in Panathinaikos practices playing against guys like Jason Kapono, Michael Bramos, and Jonas Maciulis……….being 15/16 years old.
And you think he can’t even be a Euroleague player? OK………………………..whatever.
