JNixonParticipantWizards:
John Wall- His game got better after every play. Still has sprinter speed, agility, long arms and great athleticism. Did his thing around the rim as usual and was the aggressive slasher he always is. Missed his 1st mid-range shot badly, but IMO his mid-range shot is the most underrated aspect of his game. Too turnover prone, and will try and do way too much. Has better than average playmaking ability. Has a solid chemistry with JaVale McGee. Played solid D, but did fall asleep on the ball at times. He has a Russell Westbrook meets Dwyane Wade feel about him, he just needs to learn to play at more than the 2 speeds he plays at (full speed and walking speed). Turnovers are still a concern.
JaVale McGee- He’s not as limited offensively as most say, I’ve always like his skill-set. Has counter moves, finger rolls, hooks and a soft touch around the rim. Great athlete for his size. Did anyone see his rock-the-cradle dunk?!! Needs to get stronger, but he has a good deal of talent in the low post. Rebounded very well and is a big shot-blocking presence. I like his potential, and he has the frame to be physically imposing. C of the future for them.
Trevor Booker- Energetic shot-blocker who can be a great finisher. Very athletic and explosive. Shot-blocker. Can face-up a little, but not much. Jason Maxiell 2.0
Lester Hudson- Played some and looked like a good scorer as usual. He’s very well-built.
Hamady N’Diaye- Very long shot-blocker. Not good at anything else.
Cartier Martin- Kansas State guy lol. We’re all over the place. Didn’t play good, but he just missed shots he should’ve made.
Raymar Morgan- A do-it-all guy who isn’t truly good at anything.
Sun Yue- Who saw him get in?? Haha.
J.P. Prince- He got minutes……….And that’s it.
Jerome Randle- After playing horrible in Orlando, my undrafted sleeper looked better today. He still has his work cut out for him, but he made shots and did his thing creating space. Still a bad defender who’s not a PG and is limited by a severe lack of size.
Golden State:
Reggie Williams- Scorers delight. He’s not athletic, but he scored well and has a nice left-handed stroke. Makes tough shots. Looks good from the mid-range. Average handles. Not going to defend or pass much though. Still, he’s a perfect Don Nelson guy and he’s an inspirational story.

A matchup Wall should relish.

WizardofOzParticipantThe Wiz gonna be tight next year. They have future superstar John Wall and have good talented young players in McGee, Young, Blatche, and Thornton and they can be very good NBA players if they just get their heads in the game.
Go WIZARDS!!!!!!!!

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantWall is really fast but kinda out of control.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:21pm #352190
Afactor4ParticipantI was really impressed by Wall and being vocal and like a leader with his teammates. And who better to learn the point position from than my man Sam-I-Am.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:21pm #352191
stanford hoopsim not really sure what mcgee is playing.. hes clearly much better then everyone else there as a 3rd year nba player. i dont think he can gain much other then condition. hed be better served playing at hoops the gym during the summer with the other nba vets/allstars/superstars that play there during the summer
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:22pm #352195
SteroidParticipantYeah, generally speaking, Wall doesn’t look comfortable in the halfcourt at all. His speed is what causes turnovers for him IMO, so he needs to learn how to control that. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if he averaged about 4-5 turnovers this season.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:23pm #352196
Bryant24ParticipantJohn Wall and Javele Mcgee alley connections brought back memories of Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler

stanford hoopshmm they play the clippers next game?..yeah i will be watching that very very closely. other then the turnovers(which is a very big deal) wall was what i expected him to be which is unguardable out there with very good court vision. he has mental lapse on defense which im sure he will fix after getting punished during the regular season a couple of times
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:25pm #352198
Bryant24ParticipantJohn wall is super fast i had his speed at 10 but i think i should rate it higher I see that superstar potential that everyone’s talking bout at the same time it would take some time for him to put all the skills together once he do that he can be a top 5 player.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:30pm #352207
stanford hoopsthat would be tough top 5…who gets bumped out of wade,bron,rose,durant,melo,cp3,dwill,rondo,dhoward

EntropyParticipantAnyone notice the improved mid range jumper. He actually got good lift. The only real problem is the turnovers, as many have said the passing was solid but will improve.
Also i believe if wall is to be effective with the wizards, then arenas will have to play off the ball ALOT(!).
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 4:41pm #352218
RUDEBOY_ParticipantYeah Wall seemed to get better after he get over the jiggers…He had during the 1st couple of minutes of the game..But he still needs to continue to work on his halfcourt game…You know after watching him in a nba setting..The young players that will be on the Wizards rosters next fall..Are inexperienced..So Wall might try to do too much..Now i think it’ll be wise to keep Arenas until Wall gets comfortable..

Malik-UniversalParticipant@iggy 9, plz dont call trevor booker a maxiell 2.0. cuz im tellin u as a pistons fan, i think booker has more athletic ability, better touch, better defensive abilites, maxiell is very overrated, booker will have a much bigger impact than maxiell in the L. booker can be a beast imo, maxiell… not so much
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 5:01pm #352231
knicksfan7ParticipantDoes anyone see Wall and McGee being a potential Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler duo??? I do, add the fact that McGee has a mid-range jumper makes him more versatile offensively, those 2 can be a deadly combo in the future.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 5:01pm #352232
JNixonParticipantBoth are undersized, athletic, long-armed, strong, energetic role players who aren’t very talented offensively. Seems like a match to me.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 5:02pm #352234
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantSomeone on the broadcast must have said that Wall and McGee could be a Paul- Chandler combo.
I heard that like 100 times from 100 different people..

JNixonParticipant@Knicksfan7
Look at Bryant24’s 3rd comment. I agree with that. They have the same type of chemistry

Malik-UniversalParticipanti knw wat ur sayin igg9, but to me booker is gnna have more offensive ability than max cuz of his atheleitsm… maxiell is a lazy ass bitch
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 5:06pm #352240
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI just found out who said it too lol. Kevin McHale said it.
I’m just saying. I say alot of people saying it so I presumed someone said it somewhere.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 5:08pm #352241
Bryant24Participantwell maybe he did but i didnt get it from him i just said it from my point of view
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 5:11pm #352244
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantBryant24 alright man calm down. I never said you exactly.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 5:21pm #352255
WizardofOzParticipantHe does need to cut down on turnovers, but don’t worry. He’ll improve as he gets older. I’m not trying to compare John Wall to him yet, but Magic Johnson used to average a lot of turnovers early in his career.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 5:25pm #352262
dipt1982ParticipantThe kid’s got game, I see Russell Westbrook when I watch John Wall, maybe a tad more explosiveness, which is hard since Westbrook is pretty quick himself. He has a ceiling with no limits, I see D. Wade type talent minus the money jumper…
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 6:22pm #352315
sheltwon3ParticipantWade was not as solid with that jumper early on. He has definitely put time in it throughout the years. I remember when Wade could not shoot anything pass 20 feet consistently.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 7:12pm #352337
mgreener_34ParticipantReggie Williams reminds me so much of James Harden. Both have the same build, and are left handed. Hell they even look the same.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 5:57am #352448
sc0rebuckets11Participantis that guy. straight buckets.
i liked those 3 lefties gsw threw out there. Williams/Ingles/Wright
I think Wall is a little more smooth in moving than Westbrook, from what i’ve seen.
Wall moving in&out of cuts is ridiculous.
He did alright, just than 1 ast/to was ugly.
& i think he about 2-3 ast from alley’s.0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:11am #352459
apb540ParticipantEveryone needs to calm down with saying that Wall isn’t that good in the half court. Any idea how hard it is to play in the half court with a bunch of Europe/D-League/Fringe NBA players and still look good? IMO the kid is great in the half court as he moves well without the ball (his teammates missed him a few times) and he runs the pick and roll like a champ. Kid has got mad talent and could one day challenge for the top PG spot.
