JNixonParticipantHe has been pretty shaky as a PG for Memphis over the last 2 years. He’s never really been a PG in the 1st place, and at 6′ 155 that’s what Memphis tried to make him. They don’t have another true PG on their roster though, but I don’t think it would be a bad idea for him to transfer

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThis is my 1st Time hearing this!! But i remember fans that saw him play in high school were super excited to go buy Tigers tickets to see him play…
After his outstanding play during the summer alot of people were expecting a big year from him…And it appeared that he was becoming a better playmaker, but this year he was back to being eratic running the point…So Pastner had him playing shooting guard and i guess he didnt like playing shooting guard…

FastAndFuriousParticipantI agree at 5’11 155, you either better be a pure PG or have some Rondo type athleticism cause he’s the only guard in college at a high level that was 155 pounds and do whatever he wanted, Joe Jackson is not a true PG or he’s not a Rondo type athlete.
But when Rondo made it to the NBA even he bulked up and is now 186, Joe Jackson better figure it out!

NJHooper95ParticipantThere comes alot of pressure playing in front of your hometown and many players arent equipped to deal with it. Especially when a player is making the transition from high school to college. In high school if you are a star, you basically can do anything you want on the court and off, but college is more discipline and you may not get the offensive freedom you had as a high schooler. Also the competition level changes, Joe Jackson was probably the best player on the floor 99 pct of the time in High School, but may not be the third best player on his own team in college.

Lotto StudParticipantThis is a major blow, because I would not expect this type of situation at all. It should be nothing for Pastner to pick up a 5 or 4 Star recruit now that this is occuring. The way Pastner recruits, it would not be a surprise to see a top notch recruit decommit this year. Antonio Barton, will be the guy to pick up where Jackson leaves off, so we should be alright for the time being.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI’m in Memphis right now and the TV Stations and newspapers are reporting that Pastner give him time to take care of some personal issues…Nobody is reporting that Jackson have officially left yet ….But we should’ve sense something was going on internally when Memphis came out playing sloppy….
Word on the street is that Jackson went to the Athletic Director about the team’s unhappiness with the direction Pastner has the team going….And that Pastner has no idea of what it takes to be a coach..Pastner got wind the meeting and asked Jackson to leave the team..Pastner had several run ins with about 4 different players this year….I heard someone say this morning that if Jackson does transfer,he might go to Tennessee to stick it to Pastner…

Can’t Pastner restrict him from going to Tennessee?

jeff416ParticipantJackson is staying at Memphis for the rest of the year. He was leaning towards transfering a couple a days ago, but changed his mind and will reevaluate what he wants to do at the end of the year.

Memphis sophomore point guard Joe Jackson has opted not to transfer, according to CBSSports.com reports, which cites Jackson’s former AAU coach, Eric Robinson.
Jackson sat out Saturday night’s game against Charlotte, fueling speculation that he would leave the Tiger program. The team’s second-leading scorer, Jackson started the first 11 games but then came off the bench in Thursday’s win over Robert Morris. He went scoreless in 21 minutes of action.
Memphis coach Josh Pastner said Jackson missed Saturday’s game as he deals with a "personal matter."
Jackson, a McDonald’s All-American in the Class of 2010, is averaging 11.9 points and 3.1 assists this season, shooting 43.1 percent.
Jackson made the decision to stay at Memphis on Sunday, and he is expected to play Wednesday when the Tigers take on Tennessee, the report says.
