Being a Pistons fan, when I saw Jimmer Fredette being mocked at number 7 to Detroit I was like WTF? I mean I know this years draft is weak but does anyone really think he’s that valuable to an NBA team to be drafted 7th? I’m skeptical on whether or not Jimmer will be able to produce in the NBA. Obviously I don’t want my teams top ten pick being compared to Eddie House, but I’ve also heard people comparing him to Chauncey Billups. Does anyone think he has that sort of potential?

Jimmer is an interesting prospect, he can shoot the lights out and is very good ball handler but that’s about all he can do. Or so we think. The fact that he played for BYU and had to be the main guy affected his stats a lot, and this did not really allow him to pass the ball too much. He may in fact be a very good passer as well as a great shooter and a great ball handler. That right there would warrant him mid lottery but we don’t know for a fact if he is a good passer, he may be a horrible passer, a great shooter, and a terrfic ball handler. That would probably warrant as a late lottery pick. This will really depend on workouts and what he shows he can really do. We do know one other thing for sure, he is not a very good defender.

He is definitely no Eddie House or Mark Price, that much is for sure. My comparison is Ben Gordon/Monte Ellis. (But if he can prove that he can pass in workouts, I’ll bump it up Stephen Curry immediately.

He’s nowhere near Billups. He’s not a "tall" point guard, like Billups nor can he back down other point guards. At best, Jimmer is Mike Bibby

lol@ Monta Ellis and Jimmer being in the same sentence other than no way is Jimmer anything like Ellis beside they are may be 1 or 2 inches in height difference.

I see Tony Delk to his game.  Delk was a great scorer that could stroke it from anywhere but he was too small to be  shooting guard and did not have enought point guard skills to be a point guard.  He had a couple of 50 point games though and was in the league for a while.

I still wonder why there are so many Jimmer threads since the NCAA tourney is over. I think it’s pretty obvious that he’s not the guy that turns your franchise around. He would be fun for the fans in Utah and I’m sure he’s a great kid, but at best he is a bench player unless he gets on a team with star quality players surrounding him and that’s not the type of team that is going to get to draft him unless his workouts are terrible. He’s a small shooting guard that can create his shot, but doesn’t do much else. You can say who knows if he can pass, but when guys can create for others it is pretty obvious because you are still finding the open man or getting guys the ball in the right spots even if they are missing. We also know that the talent level was way down this past year. In my opinion the lowest it has been in awhile. In the NBA he is going to have to guard point guards and I’m not sure if he can defend any of them. There is only one coach in the NBA that I know of that would say we don’t care about defense and I don’t even think he would draft him if given the chance.

People say he’s definitely not Eddie House, but who knows. The guy was an all time scoring leader at his school and led it in steals. I would think he would be at least slightly better since he creates his own shot, but who knows if he even gets that opportunity. Eddie House lucked out to play in Phx with D’Antoni and later on two teams with top tier defenses to help cover for some of his flaws thus affording him the chance to play.

Steve Blake was one of the best passing PGs statistically in NCAA history.  Even without the pieces Blake had on that Maryland squad, he never had the ability to drop 25-30 points a night.

Ward, I don’t quite get you. You say he is "no Eddie House or Mark Price". You know House doesn’t play that much and Price was an All-Star, right? If you could guarantee that he turns out as good as Mark Price, then Jimmer should go first in the draft. Mark Price made the All-NBA team four times. Price was a 20 and 10 guy for many years, shooting a great percentage. I don’t think anyone is expecting Jimmer to make All-NBA Teams or put up 10 assists a game.  But maybe what you are saying is you think Jimmer will be better than House but not as good as Price.

Jimmer = Ben Gordon but slightly below Gordon’s athleticism.

lol@ slightly. Ben Gordan is more athletic than you think also he has a decent reach for his height.
