I was never really sold on Bayless in college. He will be able to score, but I don’t see him effectively running a team. Jennings seems more capable of being a starting pg and getting his team involved.

I give Jenning the age because he looks to be the better playmaker. Bayless is more or less and undersized two guard.

im gonna go wit my boy Brandon Jennings, both players will have good careers but i think brandon will get drafted in a position to were he can excel unlike bayless who still is in a wait process behind steve blake and sergio rodrigueze and is bayless a true pg or a small sg like allen iverson

bayless at least has competed against American Style players and has looked decent when given the chance to play. The guy can get to the line like it’s going out of fashion. BJ also has that type of athletic ability, but has not shown that he can get to the rim as effectively as Bayless. I’m sure if Bayless doesn’t get at least 20 minutes a night by the allstar break, he’ll get traded to a rebuilding team. This seems highly likely to me at this point, with the way Steve Blake is playing. On a rebuilding team, people will see just how impressive bayless’ selection was. Also, Bayless has a better shot from the perimeter, from what I gather from looking at game tape.

We’ve got to quit assuming that because guys are under 6’4″ they have to be considered PGs. Bayless will make a career being a spark off the bench, or starting opposite a bigger (215+ lbs.) PG, however, he will not be a PG. Jennings is a PG, but hasn’t quite figured out how to sacrifice is points for assists on a consistent basis. His assists come from when he drives, and a teammate is hanging out on the perimeter or following him in the lane and Jennings gets stopped and happens to find him. Jennings will be crazy good when he can learn to set his teammates up for easy, uncontested shots without having to get himself out of danger first. That being said, I think Jennings “can” have the more productive career, numbers wise, but Bayless could have more of an impact on championship teams.

I think Bayless is a good scorer, but Jennings is very capable of running a team and equal an athlete.

KahlerWilliam is right, size is often overlooked, there are a lot of SG with size problems such as Lil’ Nate, D-Wade, Monta Ellis, OJ Mayo, Eric Gordon, Ben Gordon, but they are all doing great, unlike what ppl predicted.

Jennings’ games and stats in Europe just keep reminding me of Telfair…

Bayless is better…..but we will never know when Portland benches him for the whole game…gotta give the kid some mins…..

and yea i agree, he is more of a SG but its jus that his size is PG…..give him some time and mins and he’ll get better at leadin a team and becoming a true PG

trade Bayless to a team that really needs a back-up PG and would give him the mins, and then we can actually see what he can do……i dun think Bayless’ situation would change if he sticks around with the Blazers nex season….

I just think Jennings will do more overall things than him. I do not think Jennings will be a better scorer, just overall player do to him having more point guard skills.

I love the way jennings plays i think he will be an all-star for sure in the nba. Jennings has the quickness and athletic ability to succeed in the league. He has the tools to be a great player and his flashy play always makes the game fun to watch. He also has great vision of the court along with scoring ability. I haven’t until seen much of Bayless since college because of his lack of getting in Portland’s rotation but from ive seen he is pretty good and seems he could do great things given a chance. he is a good scorer but his passing ability is no where near Jennings. Overall I have to take Jennings in this case to me until proven otherwise he is sure to have a better career then Bayless.

i agree with jennings will be good but since everyone on this site keeps refering his game to sebastian telfairs if he is gonna be like telfair he must learn to be smart when he is a pro he cannot be caught doing the same things telfair was doing like bringing a gun aboard a plan and all that fabolous shooting he must be smart and he is a hard worker he has good shooting mechanics jus like rose had a problem with when he came into the league but that changed and i think if brandon keeps working his jumper will be nice and must add muscle to his body i dont wanna see him get pushed around because this guy works hard and hes not perfect but he deserves all the good things to happen to him. agreed that his streetball style that he brings to the game and his killer instinct would make the game alot more fun to watch but he must be smart using those flashy moves and always remember to get the players involved and motivated i think he can do it. also defense must improve and hopefully he buys into the defense wins championships persona

if they would ever give jerryd sum damn time my boy could show jus how special he is. but they holdin him back. thats why they lost the series to the rockets this year. steve blake couldnt do shit wit aaron brooks but i guarantee aaron woulda caught hell guardin jerryd. jerryd isnt really a point tho. he got more of a jason terry in him than a jkidd

We know Bayless shows promise, but we don’t know anything about Brandon’s ability to play in the NBA.

mayo doesnt have size problems….and bluedevil bayless would have gotten eatin alive also..hes never been known for any type of tough defense and word is he gets worked by steve blake in practice and turns the ball over alot thats why he doesnt play over blake if he did then he would have eventually taken the spot from blake but when hes in the game alot of times he looks like a deer in headlights

bayless is a combo guard, great scorer…i think he will be more of a gilbert arenas type than a deron williams or baron davis, and jennings is a pg, and i actually heard a good comparision for him the other not by doug gottlieb, he said brandon jennings has damon stoudemire’s one one ability with jason williams flash and passing.

Jennings in my opinion will prove to be, along with Derrick Rose the best point guard in the last 3 drafts.

    Including this one of course.

I think Bayless has a Devin Harris-type ceiling. I think he could have a similar career arc.
I don’t know about Jennings yet. From what little I have seen, he reminds me more of a TJ Ford/DJ Augustin type of player. Good with the ball, good vision, but will he be able to score and defend well enough in the league to make a big impact, or just enough to be a solid role player?
So, I think Jennings will be solid, but I think Bayless has the higher all-around cieling.

You can’t base any judgment for Jennings off what he did in Europe, he absolutely hated it and has stated that he was treated like a child. I don’t think anyone in the situation he was in would have succeeded. Jennings has higher upside and is a true PG, Bayless lacks a position…I think Jennings will definately have a better career. Jerryd Bayless is an extremely poor man’s Monta Ellis.
