In my opinion people are overrating this guy like crazy now. After a good summer league people are saying things like hes the best guard in the draft and predicitng hell average like 15 a game. Hes a good player and has a ton of potential but you guys are setting the bar way too high for him. First off hes not even gonna start. Their best player Kevin Martin is already their shooting guard and Lamb will come off the bench until they trade him.

Moving on Lamb is a pretty one dimensional player at this point he wont offer you much besides scoring he can defend and rebound but not anything better than average. The thing is hes not that complete of a scorer yet. Hes great in the mid range but pretty poor from 3(33%) he also settles for it a lot taking 6.2 a game in college. He didnt get to the line that much either only 3.6 times a game.

Im not saying he will bust but im saying to temper the expectations i like the guy but hes not gonna set the league on fire as a rookie.

I think he will be a good solid player, but you are right in the fact that everyone is too high on him. He will be a solid player in the league for a long time, but he is just a solid piece right now.

he plays like klay, and im the first person to compare him to klay thompson that i know. watch the comparison start increasing as the season goes thru.

     best SG in the class.

Yeah he shot 33% from three but that was due to poor shot selection, but he also shot an insane 60% from midrange last year also. This guy is a natural born scorer and will succeed in the NBA. Yes he’s rail thin but so is rip Hamilton and Kevin Martin and both those guys have had very productive scoring seasons

He may not be great overall, but he is scary good from mid-range.  I feel on a more wide open NBA team that runs him off screens and has a creative pg, he could not only be a high volume scorer, but an efficient one as well.  He was quite efficient in college, despite not always showing the greatest shot selection.  It may take him a few years to find his niche and develop his efficiency, but I think he will be the top sg from this draft class when all is said and done.  I like the fact that he can score effectively without dominating the ball.

I like Lamb as a scorer but I agree that his summer league performance is being blown out of proportion. He will not get more than 20-25 minute a game this season with Kevin Martin, a 20 ppg guy and Houston’s most reliable option not to mention an extremely similar player ahead of him, and with Lin in the backcourt, it will be hard to justify a Lin-Lamb-Martin lineup on the court too often as they’ll just give up too much on D; T-Jones and Royce White will benefit much more from the current roster makeup. Lamb could certainly be good this year but expectations should be tempered for another year.

this just seems like straight up hating to me. Obviously Lamb is  all potential right now… he has not played a single game yet… The fact of the matter is that league-wide talent is weaker at the 2 spot than any other position right now, so getting a player who has the potential to fit the classic 2 spot is something to be excited about for rockets fans… thats it.

He’s #2 on NBA.com’s rookie ladder.. that probably has something to do with why people are so high on him. Do you think that there is someone who should be higher than him?
