FastAndFuriousParticipantWhy is this guy struggling so much???
He’s now getting the minutes and he still cant produce, he’s playing good defense but he was known for being a big time scorer and he is struggling terribly.
He has all the tools the speed, great quickness and scoring instincts to contribute more than 6 points and 3 assist in 34 MINUTES!
Do you guys think his confidence is low or he’s just having a rough time getting adjusted to the NBA?
I still think he has alot of potential but now is the time, the NBA is not a place for potential…..you must produce now

Tha_PrinceParticipantI think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned confidence, the kids still 22 years old and never got a lot of minutes in games.
The guys only averaging 12.5 minutes per game which is insane, give him a steady 20-25 minutes a night and I can bet he will come into his own.

ilike.panochasParticipantI think the issue is the Hawks are trying to make him a PG, and I don’t think he is. He reminds me of a shorter version of Jerryd Bayless and I think he is a SG or a 6th man that can be a scoring spark plug.

FastAndFuriousParticipantI agree with it all but I just used to watch him at Wake Forest and some games I would be like he’s gonna be solid in the NBA, but now im not sure, I do think like someone else mentioned if he got a consistent amount of playing time then he would be ok

IndianaBasketballParticipantTeague’s my boy, but his point guard skills haven’t developed. He still can’t run a team.

sheltwon3ParticipantI guess for now it is a weight and see aproach because in time he may get but he may not be a true point guard but the thing is with JJ, he should not have to be a pure point because JJ can play point in spot moments.

iguapops420ParticipantHe’s the type of guy who can be a legit PG, but needs to develop through play. He has to make the mistakes to learn from them. He still reminds me of a young Tony Parker, who also was the type who needed to learn from first hand experience.

flyboyParticipantThe issue is, he’s essentially Lou Williams Atlanta version, but they are trying to make him a PG. He’s never been a very efficient player, he’s not a great outside shooter, and he’s a combo guard. He’s basically playing the role of bringing the ball up the court and initating the offense, and that’s mostly it. Only occasionally is he called to create his own offense, or use his ballhandling skills to break down a defense. When he does, he runs into brick walls a lot from what I’ve seen. So, he’s not being used correctly for his skill set. However, he is getting an opportunity to play minutes recently, and that will help his development.

Meditated StatesParticipantJason Terry
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/01/2011 - 8:57pm #503238
iguapops420ParticipantHe looked pretty good at Wake the couple months they had him playing as PG.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/01/2011 - 9:10pm #503239
FastAndFuriousParticipantThey actually compared him to Jason Terry on his draft profile on here……….
And the only reason he looked good at Wake running the point was because Gaudio let him do whatever he wanted, he still averaged alot of turnovers, but it was overlooked because he was putting the ball in the basket extremley well.

The lake show2Didn’t lot of people say he would be starting this yer?

IndianaBasketballParticipantHe is starting…

JNixonParticipantYeah he’s starting now. And he’s not a PG really. What Teague does have is ELITE quickness (He’s one of the 10 quickest guys in the NBA IMO) and the ability to score off the bounce. He’s one of those rare guys who is more comfortable scoring off the dribble than spotting up, but I don’t think he’ll ever be a pure playmaker. I think best case he can be like Devin Harris, but I think realistically he can be a starting PG who really is more of a scorer than anything. But where Teague needs to improve is on D, he can pressure the ball up the court, but his awareness and IQ leaves alot to be desired. He gets beat off the bounce too much in the half court for someone with all the tools he has.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHinrich started vs the Bulls last night, so maybe Teague has been moved back to the bench.

The lake show2yeah he only started untill Kirk got used to the system, knew there was no way he would start over kirk unless they wanteed kirk to play a jason terry role off the bench

iguapops420ParticipantTeague needs a Gino or Roy type to play beside of to balance out his wild tendancies. Tony Parker is still quite prone to getting out of control and lacking a J. All Teague has to do is play a little smarter and he can carve out a niche’ still IMO.
