ag-pennypackerParticipantHe has had two monster games in a row. Two games ago he went for 20 points 16 boards and 2 blocks. Last game he went for 24 points 18 boards 2 steals and 4 blocks. Over the past five games he’s averaging 14 points 13 rebounds 1.4 steals and 3 blocks a game. He’s also up to 10 points 8.5 rebounds and 2.92 blocks a game for the entire season and he has an great John Hollinger PER at 20.66. It looks like he’s finally breaking out. Anyone seen him play? Does he look like he’s playing any smarter this season?

sacphil_08ParticipantJaval mcgee is a product of john wall’s playmaking ability. Wall is able to put him in a position to get those highlight dunks/easy looks at the rim. his athletic ability is what allows him to grab rebounds and blocks which is great, but he absolutely needs a john wall or rondo etc in order to have good stats. hes the same as david west, without chris paul david west wouldnt have nearly the same stats

darko4prezParticipantIf you knew what you were talking about you’d know Wall didn’t play all last week and last night he only came off the bench.
Mcgee IS playing smarter this year but he’s still nowhere near a finished product. A go-to post move and some defensive awareness will help round out his game.

WizardofOzParticipantHe as been playing great. He’s not perfect, but he has been improving at a RAPID rate so far this season, and I have to give much credit to head coach Flip Sauders. At first, I was very sceptical of the way Flip was handling McGee. If McGee mad one mistake, he would bench him, even at the most important times when the game was still in reach, but whe Yi or Armstrong would make a mistake, Flip would still keep them in the game, and I got VERY frustrated at Flip, but now, it seems like Flip’s tough love is working.
McGee has been a monster on the boards lately. These are the amount of rebounds he grabbed in the last 5 games.
Game 1: 9
Game 2: 10
Game 3: 12
Game 4: 16
Game 5: 18!!
Sure he still doesn’t box out, but his hustle and effort has been AMAZING lately. He’s been a beast on the O and D glass. He has 8 offensive rebounds in the first half last night. He sags every rebound like if he allowed the ball to fall on the floor, he would die. I’m not sure if if that made sense or not, but oh well. Anyway, his basketball I.Q. is growing. He doesn’t jump for every block like he used to in order to stay out of foul trouble, be out of position, and to get more rebounds, but he still manages to get a high amount of blocks. He is currently leadig te leadig the league in blocked shots. I’ve also been impressed with his stamina. He has asthma, and earlier in his career, he used to get tired very quickly, but since he found out he has asthma last season, his condition has improved and he is able to play much more minutes now. He has played 42 & 46 minutes in each of his last two games. He wouldn’t have been able to play that log before.
He’s scoring too. It’s not like he is a wiz in the post, but he has a developing skyhook, which if he gets consitent at it, it can become deadly because of how long he is. He will add moves next summer, and he will get stronger. As he adds moves and becomes stronger, he can become an All-Star.
Although, he has been doing all this against two of the worst big man teams in the Pistons and Sixers. I’ll keep track of his progress as the season goes on.
People oftwn say McGee’s highest upside is Tyson Chandler, but I tink that he can become a better player than Chandler. In fact, IMO, he’s a better player than Chandler right now. He’s a better shot-blocker, is more athletic, faster, and jumps higher tha Chandler.
Do you have anythig to say about that Quincey?

stanford hoopsand he went for 20 while wall was hurt. wall does help alot but he showed he can also do it without wall. none of this is surprising though because consistency is his problem

Sonny RedParticipanthe killed the Sixers, and hit one of the ugly shots ever in the process, it was a half hook half scoop shot, I cant even really explain. Even Turner was the reason why the Wizards won that game, he missed two free throws, that let nick young get a wide open 3 ball.
