Word is he’s staying in the draft becuase a team told him he would go in the top 35..Where do you think he ends up?

Could the Hornets take a gamble on him at  #12. They need a PG and they need excitment. I think Kemba is leaving and I don’t see too many PG’s on the board at 12. I think dudes a couple years a way but Hornets gotta stop drafting these March Madness  tourney stars who are juniors and seniors who ain’t doing shhh…(Sean May, Frank the tank, Cody Zeller, etc. type players)

Also the Celtics at #21 or #22…

    Adam Morrison…

But I like Lecque, not sure I’d roll the dice on him as a lottery pick though. But the potential is seriously there. Once his jumper becomes more consistent…wow.

His measurables and athleticism put him in the Dame, Westbrook, Rose level of athlete. They could do worse. I can see him being a star.

Like I’ve said before, he is a SIGNIFICANTLY better propsect than Anfernee Simmons in my opinion who went 24th…so why not 12th I guess.

Simons is a far better prospect than Lecque. Lecque should really consider going to college, Simons’ game translates becaues he is the far better shooter AND scorer at all three levels. They’re roughly the same height, with the same wingspan (Simons’ is rumored to be longer, though) and Simons scored 37 in an NBA regulation game – a throwaway, I’m aware – though I’m not sure Lecque could do the same today or in the following season.

Simons’ is the far better prospect and talent. I really wished Lecque would go to school for a year to hone his game. Hopefully if Lecque is drated he goes to a team that not only has a G-League affiliate, but is willing to be very patient with his progress. Lecque falls in the line of uber athletic PGs with length and that breed is very hit or miss because of the other factors that make lead guards good players.

I’ll take Lecque, as I see him and Ja Morant as very similar style of guards. Lecque plays with more pace and can run a team better than people are giving him credit for. His shooting really isn’t that terrible either. He’s not Westbrook.

They’re the same height and Lecque is a point guard. I see Anfernee as two guard (hard to say though because we haven’t even seen much of him).

Let’s check back in 5 years to see who got this right.

I’ll give you all the props in the world if the draft were today and he went top 12. Yet right now that seems crazy.

Is he similar? Sure both a very good athletes for PG, yet Ja Morant just averaged 25 and 10 in College.

You seem to act like every issue scouts have Lecque is no big deal. Most think he’s a SG in a PG body. He’s got very good upside, but a ton of negatives also. A guy like Duval a very good athlete at PG, who had similar issues went undrafted last year. He should have went to College to refine his game, it took Ja Morant a year to figure things out in College. He wasn’t some top 10 or even top 20 recruit either.

Only way he goes top 12 is a ton of workouts. He goes up against the players in that range and does well. Yet given he already seems to have shut things down that doesn’t seem likely.

Definitely respect what you’re saying. I totally understand the concerns scouts have with Lecque, nobody is a perfect prospect and they’re valid.

I’m just saying I think if Anfernee can go 24, Lecque could go that high or higher. I know most will say Anfernee is the better prospect, but there’s just something I like about Lecque.

I can’t see a team like Boston who has 3 first round picks making a promise. It would limit their opportunities to package those picks in a trade or to move up in the draft. I could of course be wrong, but logically that’s the way I see it. I have him going to Philly who needs a significant upgrade in bench athleticism.

I remember when Billy Preston was told by his agent to sit out playing at the combine because it could hurt his draft stock, and then went undrafted. When did that happen… oh right, last year. Words at this point can really hurt guys.

I get your point, but Preston heard that from his agent.

It’s very likely Lecque was told this directly from a team after he was awesome in that first game. Words are still empty until something happens, but I’d feel better if I heard it directly from the source.

You may very well be right. Not every player who shuts it down or sits out gets burned. That said, I don’t see what are the consequences for a GM/coach/scout leading a player on. I definitely see the downside of the player thinking his draft standing is safer than it is.

At the highest, more likely 30 to 40s. It’s a deep draft, yeah his upside my be higher than some guys, but that won’t start till towards the end of the first round. He was what the #24 prospect in his class? I see no reason he jumps those other guys that actually played and showed you something. Workouts will be huge for him and he better do a ton of them. Kinda reminds me of Robinson and he went second round.

I think he can be drafterd like anfernee simons last year, he can be in the Gleague and wait for him to develop or spend time there to play against real men

Actually, I’ve had a rethink and Utah may be the fit
