SixerBloodParticipantSan Antonio start thinking about what to do with the void that Duncan will leave once he retires? I mean their young core of Leonard , Green, Splitter, Joseph and even Belineli are solid starters but the "PF" spot is a must in the WEST CONF right? So how will they survive will it be through the Draft? Free agency? Or Trading ?

nick5354ParticipantAs long as they have coach Pop there they will have no problem finding a PF in Free Agency. I think every single young player would want to be coached by him.

GrandmamaParticipantDuncan and Popovich are leaving at the same time. That’s pretty much a given. And that very well could be after this year.

SixerBloodParticipantPop can probably coach this year’s Sixers to the playoffs, but who would actually fit that role? Do you see anyone in the league now or maybe one of these young kids coming out within the next 2 years?

Neggedpastorthe system ,coach, parker, and Duncan make a lot of plug in players look great. its about time for the spurs to start looking ahead 2 finals appearances when nobody had them the favorites either year I think they believed but the world didn’t but I cant see 3 back to back without a huge addition.
they need to get future assets now I have never seen so man good foreign prospects who knows how but if im the spurs after this season if Duncan and Manu retires I’m trying to repeat history.
stash , get late first round and second round gems I don’t know how many teams will be interested but parker is a asset and I don’t think he can lead by his self on the spurs so.0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/12/2014 - 4:25pm #918222

SixerBloodParticipantCan draft steals become Championship contenders without that 1st round top ten stud type of player. Once the Admiral Left The Big Fundemental was right there and has always been right there! Can the Spurs survive by just stashing or will they have to go out on a limb and maybe trade to get higher picks because I don’t see them being bad until their big 4 leaves?

B-ball fanParticipantThe Spurs offensive system is so good that they should remain a really good offensive team even after Duncan retires. They will find a FA to replace him and the Spurs are really good at getting the most out of FA signings (Richard Jefferson excepted). Losing Duncan will hurt their defense the most, so it may become more difficult for them to remain elite, but as long as Pop is the coach and they have some talent on the roster, they will be fine. Parker will be good for a while and Kawhi Leonard is still only 22, with a lot of room to grow. And Splitter is really improving, too.

Something something basketballParticipantThe two biggest questions are will pop stay if spurs win it all but Duncan and manu both retire? And can they win with leonard as their best player? Realistically, he is the only player with substantial trade value. And I don’t think the spurs have it in them to play the tanking game. And it’s not exactly los Angeles or new York in attractive free agent destination. So either trade leonard for an established legit player (love/bosh/aldridge/gasol) or claim leonard as the star incumbent to Duncan and hope to have continued success in Draft

Hacker90ParticipantTrading Leonard would be a huge mistake. He’s 22 years old and improving every year, not to mention BALLIN on the biggest stage in the league. I think you build around Parker and Leonard. It’s hard to see the future with the spurs, a lot of scenarios that I could see happen. It wouldn’t surprise me if Duncan/Pops retire after this year if they win. I could also see them winning and everyone coming back next year to try and win it again.
I kmow it’s not going to happen. But it would sure be awesome to see Joel Embiid drafted by the Spurs, get some tutoring from one of the best to ever play if he decides to keep playing. Just a dream!

Livio Jean-Charles 6-9 Sf/PF 20yr, Davis Bertans PF/Sf 6-10 21yrs, or maybe even Ryan Richards Pf/C 7-0 22yrs to take some of the slack inside Duncan and Manu leave.
Also Adam Hanga, Marcus Denmon and Deshaun Thomas to take some of the other roles that Patty Mills and Boris Diaw have now.
