I don’t think this guy will put very much weight on in the future. I think he will pan out something like Kevin Durante body type where he will get stronger but not really fill out. That being said I think he will play PF and possibly minutes at SF and C brcuse of his skill level. My first comparison years ago was that he would be like a Kevin Garnett type of player but I think he possibly has a chance to be like something we’ve Never seen before. Opinions?

He doesn’t have close to Garnett’s toughness, athleticism, or insane defensive ability. Maybe he will develop into a similar offensive player to modern day KG, but I kind of doubt it. I think Austin is more of an Andrea Bargnani-type, hopefully with better rebounding.

    I’ll just be direct.

    Position: Stretch 4
    Potential: Solid Backup-Spot Starter

He reminds me of Austin Daye, but a little taller. He’ll be a stretch 4 because his lateral quickness isn’t good enough to guard a 3 on the perimeter and he’d get thrown around at the 5. He’ll still be the weakest 4 in the league, but his height and range will help stretching the D. It’s gonna take him years to become a regular contributor, but I think he could be a nice situational big by age 22 or 23. I think he’s worth a late 1st round pick.

No Way Joe. I see where the Day similarities come in at but Austin is much more skilled and tougher then Daye which isn’t sayin a whole lot but still. Daye is very soft and almost primarily a spot up shooter. Austin can shoot, slash, and pass where ass Daye can only shoot. Plus Austin is a much better rebounder then given credit for.

I don’t think Austin is way more skilled. Daye was a really skilled guy with a unique skillset for his position. The same can be said about Austin and I disagree about him being able to drive at the next level. Isaiah Austin is very slow laterally and has a very slow first step. There is no way he can take even the most average NBA power forward off the dribble. His length his terriffic and he is a significantly better rebounder who is good at crashing the offensive glass while hanging out on the perimeter. That being said, I think he’s going to take him years to do anything major in the NBA. His body is just too weak. This isn’t a John Henson situation, who was skinny, but put on a legit 30 lbs of muscle from 18 to 21 and was never a guy who relied on perimter skills.

I see Austin as a Channing Frye/ Daye hybrid, I think he’ll have a career. It will take him a while to get going, but I don’t see a star in any way shape or form.

A not as athletic Byron Mullon and thinner Spencer Hawes. He doesn’t like or can play in the paint because his lack of strength. He’ll likely be mainly perimeter orientated 7’1 player that shoots the long ball. I don’t believe he’ll gain any real significant amount of weight because his body type is similar to Tayshuan Prince and Kevin Durant, long armed narrow shoulders.

Austin Daye is strictly a SF, Isaiah will be a PF in the NBA. I see a lot of Charlie Villanueva in Isaiah.

I think he is like Austin Daye as well, just more potential.

I agree with Joe, very skilled player but too weak and soft to be much of a force. I don’t see him being able to put on much weight and that will really thwart his progress. I wouldn’t take a chance on him unless I was picking in the mid to late 20’s in this draft.
