LeBron will probably make a decision in the next couple days. If he chooses Cleveland, he turns the cavs team into a 60 win team instantly, in my opinion.

If he chooses to play for Cleveland, I keep reading a possible deal for Kevin Love. The idea of a Kyrie Irving, Wiggins, LeBron and K-Love pairing sounds enticing. The problem I have is, would the cost be worth it? Love has many downsides to his game. His defense leaves a lot to be desired, which is a major weakness in the cavs frontcourt. Adding another high volume scorer wouldn’t put us over the top especially when you already have Irving, Bron and Waiters, imo.

Where would the ball go? Love is a terrific scorer and rebounder but his defensive shortcomings are well documented.

What I’m basically saying is, we should instead focus on bringing a defensive big man, something Miami sorely lacked and tried to address to no avail. Instead of trading for Love’s expiring, why not explore a trade for a defensive big man like DeAndre Jordan, for example? He would be perfect next to Kyrie, Wiggins, LeBron and Bennett.

    Thoughts?

We need a Centre badly, which is why I was so upset Embiid had the foot injury. He would have been perfect.

I know right! I was on #teamEmbiid before the injury was discovered. But a LeBron / Wiggins tandem could resemble the Jordan / Pippen 90’s team. That would be epic. All we’d need is a big man that can defend, that’s the only thing missing if LeBron comes. We have plenty of scoring from role players like Dion, Bennett, Karasev, Zeller, Harris and the rest of the bench.

Having three max players can hurt your ability to add key bench pieces and role players. It happened to the Miami Heat and they couldn’t beat the deep Spurs team.

if the cavs are really smart they would go get Monroe from Detroit in a sign and trade deal. The problem with that for the Cavs (and every other team including the pistons) is that Monroe I believe wants to be paid WAY more than his game is actually worth. Unlike Love (a great player btw, and a future lock for the HOF) Monroe has the tools and would actually try on defense.

What do you think the Cavs would offer in a sign and trade for Monroe? Not sure there’s much on the Cavs roster that Detroit could use.

If Lebron somehow  goes back to Cleve, I dont think he has any chance of beating who ever comes out of the West, and thats if Cleve makes it out of the East . If Melo picks Chicago I think they would have the better team, then you also have the Pacers still to and depending on what MIA puts together if Wade and Bosh stays…….ps in 3 yrs alone look out for NYKnicks b/c  tha Zen Master will be working his magic. Lebron would be taking a huge risk going back to Cleve and I don’t think its worth it, hes better off going to Poenix or even the Lakers than going to Cleveland…..its all about winning titles right?

Cleveland and Phoenix are pretty close in terms of salary space and young talent. Phoenix has Dragic, Morris twins, Gerald Green, Bledsoe,Plumlee, their 3 first round picks from this year and two more owed next year plus 30 million in cap space and no bad contracts.Cleveland has Irving, Waiters, Wiggins, Bennett, Thompson, Zeller, Varejao and some possibly valuable first round picks from Miami next year and about 20 million in cap space. They have J.Jacks contract to move and if Bennett doesn’t improve, his contract is not the greatest either. They are pretty close to a wash in my opinion but Cleveland has two huge advantages in that they play in the East and more importantly are home to Lebron, his wife Savanahh, his agent Rich Paul and his closest advisers Maverick Carter.

The Lakers have nothing but bad contracts which will make filling out a roster very top heavy. Kobe at 23.5 million and Nash at 9.7 million. They don’t have a single valuable contact except Julius Randle rookie contract. This will come down to whichever free agents Riley can convince to sign for cheap in the next week because Cleveland and Phoenix already have solid roster support and future assets. I don’t see that happening, so my guess is Cleveland gets Lebron back.

A huge risk going to Cleveland? Kyrie Irving for the next 6 years and Andrew wiggins for the next 5? Pieces in place, money to spend, and potentially THREE first round picks to use/use as trade assets next year. Long term, Cleveland suprisingly may be his best option.

How on earth would you expect to trade for Kevin Love while retaining Andrew Wiggins and Dion Waiters? Even if the Cavs sign LeBron and Kevin Love wants to come to Cleveland, Minnesota is not going to part with him for Tristan Thompson straight-up. They’d probably be asking for Waiters, Wiggins, and Tristan Thompson. That’s a lot, but is it worth to obtain a big three of Kyrie, LeBron, and Love? I’m sure that’s something Griffin, Blatt, and Gilbert will be discussing.

I think the Cavs could keep their core together and still get KLove if they offered all 3 first rounds, plus either Bennett or Thompson. Would make sense for both teams IMO

3 first round picks, Tristian Thompson, Dion Waiters, and another player not named Wiggins or Irving. I think that would be the best deal thrown at Minnisota. If im the Cavs I dont give up Wiggins due to the fact that Love is a free agent next year and Minny might trade him during the season so they dont lose him for nothing. Whats killing the Cavs right now is Jack due 6 mil and Varejao due almost 10.

Kyrie, Wiggins, Lebron, Thompson, Varejao with Waiters, Delly, Bennett, Zeller off the bench.

    or

Kyrie, Wiggins, Lebron, Love, Zeller with a lot weaker bench..

I think with a deep team and a coach that Blatt is considered to be.. maybe they are better off not chasing Love right away and waiting.

I’d rather lose him for nothing then take your bag of potato chips. Minnesota already has a weak reputation around the league, why add to it by facilitating a lopsided trade that enables a ten year Cleveland dynasty?

This is the phone call between Griffin and Saunders:

          David: Flip, Hi.
Flip: David, congrats on landing LeBron. What can I do for you?
Griffin: We want Love. We’re confident he’ll re-sign.
          Flip: Okay, let’s talk.
Griffin: We’ll give you Waiters, Thompson, three 1st rounders next year, and somebody else not named Wiggins.
Flip: David, I’m a busy man. I gotta run.
Griffin: Flip, talk to me. What’s the problem, here?
Flip: The problem, Dave, is that you’re offering me a role player, a head case, and three picks that give me what? fake hope? Why don’t you take a walk, and call me if you come up with something better.
Griffin: You and I both know that Love is going to walk next year.
Flip: Fine, then he’ll walk. He’ll walk his ass all the way to California. Or do you think he’s coming to Cleveland?
          Griffin:….
Flip: Call me when you’re ready to build a deal around Wiggins.

I can understand why your saying this. If I wasnt looking at this from a Cavs perspective then I would wait til the season to trade him off. IF a better deal doesnt come along though it would be tough to just let him go in Free Agency.

I’m coming from a place of pride. Minnesota fans are loyal, and passionate, and they deserve better than leftovers.
Sure, it’s better to get something for Love, but personally, I wouldn’t take your deal. It’s not a good trade, even if Cleveland has the leverage. I’d rather Love walk than be strong armed at the trading table. The Wolves will never rise up with that sort of “table scraps” mentality.

Waiters, TT, Tyler Zeller, and the Memphis pick plus future picks would be a solid deal for Kevin Love.

Maybe the Cavs put Anthony Bennett in the deal too.

If the Cavs can get a SUPER CORE of LeBron, Love, Kyrie Irving, and Andrew Wiggins with Andy V being the fifth guy then you have to try to get it done right?

    That’s pretty much a dream starting lineup…

If they keep Anthony Bennett then he becomes their sixth man, Dellavadova is their backup point guard, and then they might be able to sign veteran ring chasers like Mike Miller and Rashard Lewis.

It also looks like Cleveland drafted Joe Harris which should be a solid pick as a shooter on the wing.

Scottie Hopson is a nice wing prospect too.

Waiters, TT, Anthony Bennett, Tyler Zeller, the Memphis pick, and a future first would be a lot for Kevin Love.  Then maybe Cleveland can get Luc Richard Mbah a Moute back as power forward depth.  Not sure if the T Wolves want to continue paying him $4 million a year.

I think that makes a lot of sense.  LeBron comes back home.  Kevin Love goes to a team that offers the best fit and the best potential to win a ring.
