If Dwight Howard decides to leave Orlando after next season what do you guys think some of his possible destinations are ?

LA Clippers – I believe they still have enough money to offer a max contract (if D.Howards requires such). Match Howard with Blake Griffin and youve got the new version of the twin towers…and alot of dunks

Chicago – They were considering pulling the trigger for Carmelo so why not Howard. They would surely have to give up Noah and a couple other pieces but a team w/ a core group of Rose, Howard and Boozer would be something.

New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets – Theyve got the money, a new arena is coming, Deron Williams is there and still playing at a very high level and there roll players are beggining to step up as well. I think its definitley a location Dwight should consider.

What do you guys think ?

I’ve heard reports from Orlando saying that they’d rather resign him then trade him. And I’m thinking "of course you would’ That’s what any team wants to do with their superstar, the trick is does "he", the superstar himself want to stay there? Based on what Orlando has done in the past, no I don’t think they will be able to resign him unless they are able to get Toronto’s Andrea Bargnani. That might not work either because he is so used to playing no defense playing for the Raptors ever since he was drafted back in 2006.

That being said I tend to think he will go to any one of three teams you mentioned. I’d really like to see him in a Clipper unform because I know he and Blake would have a lot of fun playing together and I would also love to see the other LA team actually have a legitamate chance at beating their in-city rival. I also wouldn’t mind seeing him in Chicago pairing up with D-rose, which would be the same as him pairing up Dwill in Jersey. He would be the ultimate player that should convince Dwill to stay in Jersey. But I think for any team that wants him they will have to trade and get him. I think we have all learned that the best thing to do when you have a star is to either sign them up to a big extension before its too late, (Better early than late.) or trade them like Utah did around the trade deadline when they gave up Dwill, which I still think was very smart. You never ever just let your star player sign with another team because then you end up like the Cavs or the Raptors and be left with absolutely nothing and have to start building from the ground up again.

That being said, I think the Clippers would have to give up Mo Williams, Deandre Jordan, (who is off the books this offseason. Clips will most definitely resign him to a bigger contract thus being big enough that both his and Mo’s salary will match Dwight’s) and some draft picks. (probably 2012, and 2013 lottery protected) (They also might have to trade Chris Kaman, this might need to be a three team trade) The Bulls would have to trade Noah, and Deng as well as some draft picks from 2012 and 2013 drafts. The Nets would need to give up Brooke Lopez, Travis Outlaw, Brandan Wright and maybe Kris Humphries. (They might have loose a lot inorder to get him, it might be better for the Clips or Bulls to go after him, then again Knicks had to trade a lot in order to get Melo so I wouldn’t put it past the Nets especially with their russian billionaire owner) The Nets would also have to include some draft picks.

Also lookout for other teams that might get in shuffle too. I think Boston will be very interested in him as they try to again build a title contender even after Ray Ray, Pierce and Garnett retire. So will the Warriors who are trying to build a franchise like the Celtics.

I think all he wants to do is win. If he wants to go to a winner then his best bet would be to sign with Prokhorov’s Nets. Otherwise hes going to need to be signed and traded much like Lebron and Bosh ended up doing.

Prokorov’s Nets have never won anything. And right now, they stink. If he wants to win, they wouldnt even be close to his best choice.

I’m just glad that the Thunder signed Perkins to a big long term contract so they aren’t a real possibility. I was genuinely worried that OKC would have been his preffered destination and with a core of Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Sefolosha and Ibaka along with Howard they would have been an elite team for years, possibly unstoppable in the aging Western conference.

Also this Bargnani lovematch with Orlando is getting a bit much. Yes I agree Bargs would be a good compliment to Howard but it wouldn’t put them over the top by any stretch, Ryan Anderson stretches the floor just fine from the 4 spot and Brandon Bass gives us a more physical inside presence to pair with Dwight. What we need more than anything is a good to very good wing player that can defend as well as score enough to take pressure off from Howard in the middle.

Boston – Cmon is there a more perfect fit?

    LAL – New Shaq

GSW – (Actually this isnt homerism this time) The new owners keep talking about getting a super star ad said they are going to get cap space in 2012…

    Dallas – Dont understimate Cuban…

Yes it is. Boston, New Jersey (Not because of winning, because of $), LAL, or LAC.
