Mr. JewboyParticipantAfter I read that John Wall grew about an inch since he got measured last year, and reading elsewhere that Amir Johnson grew a full two inches! I got to thinking that it would be very interesting that the NBA do the same measurements that they do before the draft – before every new season.
Then we would know things like- How much Lebron weighs, how much Dwight weighs. Or how tall Shaq is, or all those young players that looked like theyve grown a bit like wall, Amir johnson, bynum and more.
I would also like to see atheltic results before every new season- so we can see how much athletiscm kobe or Vince carter have lost, and how much Dwight can bench press now,
What do you guys think?

BKKnicksfanParticipantHappens all the time. Bill Walton was 6-11 his whole career, but grew to 7-1 in like his 3rd year and never told. I remember the rumor was LeBron was secretly 6-10.

MagikKnickParticipantI agree with the height and weight part, those things, especially weight can always change….so measurements for those wouldnt be a bad idea..
But proven athletes shouldnt have to go through athletic result testings, they shouldnt have to constantly prove things like that…

ghettosermonParticipantThat’s just a waste of money, you’d need to hire an agency to do all this work. Better off spending that money elsewhere. And honestly who cares how much more these guys can bench, how higher they can jump, etc. It would be cool just to look at but ultimately would be money down the drain. If a team wanted to test this I’d be fine with that, but a league wide mandate to test players seems pointless.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantLike magicknick said. Height and weight is good but I don’t know about the atheltic results.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantI agree, but I do not think Kobe and the other veteran players would want to go through all of that stuff like vertical testing and stuff like that. I think you would be able to get them to do height and weight because that takes like ten seconds to do.

HotSnotParticipantIts a valid point… not just from the fans persepctive but from a teams perspective aswell. I’d like to know what kind of shape my players are coming back from the offseason in. Too many guys don’t do anything in the offseason. Its not to say that everyone is like that but as a professional athlete there is no excuse. Shouldn’t it be the goal of every player to come back better then the year before? Alot of guys are so used to relying on their natural gifts and suceeding that they get into the "its good enough" mentality.
The first day of training camp should be testing. I know they do this in the NHL and NFL.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantI wonder how tall Garnett is. I remember hearing once that he is 7-1 in shoes

festar35ParticipantDidn’t KD grow like 2inches since being in the league and apparently Paul George is an inch taller also.
