I think Melo realized that without Harris and Favors, and the loss of two draft picks, he isn’t
any better off then staying in Denver, where he has a year to decide. The reason he wants
Chicago or New York is big cith and a young talented team. The problem is, in order to
please Denver, the team is no longer that talented when the trade is over. Everyone wants
their cake and eat it too. New Jersey is willing to give up a lot to get Mello. Melo will have his
big city, his Max money, and new owner who is willing to spend, but the team won’t make
the playoffs. What to do! What to do! If Melo would take a little less guarenteed money,
he could stay at Denver for a while longer, see how New York and Chicago are stacking
up against Miami, Orlando, Boston and of course the Lakers and make his move then. By
waiting Denver loses power and will take less, which means the team Melo goes to, will
have more. In New York or Chicago he will make a lot more in endorsements then New Jersey,
Houston, etc. If he goes to any of these teams as a free agent, they are now competitive
    with Miami & the Lakers.

I think… you could be right. Whats so special about NJ without Harris and favors? They have Lopez and thats it, atleast in Denver he has Chauncey, Nene, JR Smith, Kmart. They are a good team in Denver with Melo, almost championship level(2009 WC Finals).
