Dale WorthingtonParticipant“I like 15-seeded Florida Gulf Coast to beat 2-seeded Georgtown.
Georgetown is a one man band with Otto Porter…outside the top 100 in offensive efficiency, rebounding rate, is weak at the point, and has no post.”

“If Georgetown gets to the Final Four, I will paypal you $10,000.
-Below-average at the point
-Well-below average in the post (120th in rebounding rate, 195th in offensive rebounding%, and their best post player averages a measly 7 and 5.5).
-Below-average offense (136th in offensive efficiency)Besides Otto Porter and their great defense they have too many red flags that will prevent them from going far.”

drk3351ParticipantA good job predicting this huge upset, but it’s really not that great if you pick 10 other huge upsets and get one or two…
0- Posted on: Fri, 03/22/2013 - 3:33pm #756967
Dale WorthingtonParticipantI only picked 2 huge upsets: this one and Southern over Gonzaga which almost came to fruition.
0- Posted on: Fri, 03/22/2013 - 3:52pm #756973
drk3351ParticipantThose two and most would consider New Mexico State over Saint Louis big, and also medium picks like Bucknell over Butler and Saint Mary’s over Memphis. Tough I do have to give credit you were right by picking La Salle.

theprophetParticipantflorida gulf coast looked pretty solid. i didn’t think they would win, but i figured the game would be good. good call on that one dale.
shoot! now my keyboard is all sticky!

Dale WorthingtonParticipantHaha, thanks bud!
I had to make this thread after being called out for missing out on New Mexico and Pitt.
A lot of people had UNM and Pitt going far but NO ONE had Georgetown croaking to Florida Gulf Coast…and the few people that did couldn’t give an explanation as to why Georgetown would go down.
I made it clear…teams weak at the point and/or post don’t go far. Point.Blank.Period. No matter how good their resume or body of work was during the season, they croak early in the Tournament. We saw it last year with Duke and Mizzou. And now we’ve seen it with Georgetown.
Saint Louis is next.

Ghost01ParticipantWhat is Saint Louis next for? Some stupid point you are trying to prove through self promoting threads? Congrats, you picked one big upset correctly. UConn won the title with Kemba Walker playing “point guard”, but he was basically one man chucker. There is no evidence that there is some exact science to this at all. You were dead wrong on Pitt and dead wrong on Saint Louis. So just shut up.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantI was dead wrong on St. Louis because they beat 13 seeded powerhouse New Mexico State?
Child, please.
Wait ’till they face a real team and get run out the building.

aamir543ParticipantI logged on just to thank Dale for this, yes you were dead wrong about New Mexico, but you were spot on about Georgetown. I didn’t have the guts to chose a 15 seed, but I only had them going one round.
But as whole Dale, you’re doing pretty awful, but you have great knowledge of the game and we all know brackets are more luck than anything else though.
Ole Miss all the way, not wavering one bit, Marshall Henderson will be a top 5 trending a week and a half from now, I got LaSalle right, damn Davidson choked but oh well, and I got the Oregon one too.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantThanks Aamir!
I am proud of my call on Florida Gulf Coast and can live with missing on New Mexico since that region is so damn bad.

theprophetParticipantaamir, you are looking like a genius now. but you are right, luck also has a lot to do with brackets. especially this year where there are no clear favorites.
0- Posted on: Fri, 03/22/2013 - 4:20pm #756983
aamir543ParticipantThanks for the compliment, but I think it’s still way to early to say, I’ll be really proud of my pick if Ole Miss can get to the Elite 8.
But then again, a week from now after I’ve had several nights of adequate sleep since it’s spring break, I’ll probably come to my senses and wonder what the hell was I thinking, lol.

Forte IVParticipantF*ck Davidson and the slow white guy who lounges around the last play and can’t catch the ball. Seriously Marquette’s comeback p*ssed me off so much
0- Posted on: Fri, 03/22/2013 - 5:39pm #756992
llperezAre u referring to rhe outlet pass that went out of bounds? If so how on earth you blame anyone but the passer is beyond me. He was WIDE open and the guy threw it ahead like he was jay cutler throwing a hail marry into triple coverage. He has to make that pass 100 out of 100 times, that’s all on him.

Forte IVParticipantHe lounged around the last play. You can’t solely blame the guy who passed the ball. It was a good play.
0- Posted on: Fri, 03/22/2013 - 8:04pm #757014
llperezLounged around? He was wide open. Nobody within 20 feet of him. He was looking for the pass. The passer then threw the ball way ahead of him like it was a fast break even though the guy was just standing there. You’re up 1 with less then 10 seconds andhavr the ball and your throwing lead passes like the guy should be fast breaking for the end zone. That was 100% on the passer not hitting the wide open man calling for the ball.
0- Posted on: Sat, 03/23/2013 - 9:56am #757110
R-Dot-13ParticipantYou’re right.
100% on the passer. At the very least hold onto the ball and get fouled.
Or, pass it TO the wide open guy. Not 10 feet ahead of him.All on the passer.

- Posted on: Fri, 03/22/2013 - 9:34pm #757020
Forte IVParticipantNo the passer through him the ball and he watched it go past him, without any effort to grab the ball until he realized it had bounced past him. He was lounging around the last play. You can’t argue against it.

Wahoo757ParticipantGreat upset pick even if your justification was a little strange (Markel Starks is below average?)
0- Posted on: Sat, 03/23/2013 - 9:25am #757108
Dale WorthingtonParticipantThanks bud. I believe Starks is mediocre if not slightly-below average as a playmaker but in his defense that comical slowpoke Princeton Offense doesn’t do anyone any favors.
