I have never in my lifetime seen anyone on a non professional level attack a ref in sports ever.
What has the world of HS sports come to?
I am glad O.J. Mayo did not take action like this in HS with his incident, because his future would have been jeopardized. No USC No NBA career.

T-Wolvesfan13ParticipantI mean i hate refs as bad as the next guy. But that is just way out of hand. I mean pushing the ref was not enough? What a punk. Someone should of knocked his b**ch a$$ out. Does anyone know if he is going to jail or anything like that?

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThat was a BAD CALL!! You can clearly see the opposing player was all up on him..Dude wasnt playing defense he Bumped him several Times..
But that was no reason to Attack the Referee…I remember when i was playing ball and got a bad call sometimes refs give you calls based on your reputation and can develope a dislike toward you…But there was no excuse for Attacking a Ref…I remember the refs use to hate me becuz..I use to Talk Trash..And they would make calls on me they knew were wrong..I would get mad and tell them i hope that wake up from a night of heavy drinking and find out they have married Dennis Rodman….I thought about hitting them..But that would not have solved anything…Attacking a ref is WRONG….

mikeyvthedonParticipantI thought about posting it, but honestly I do not know what to think. I feel bad for the ref, as it seems like he did little if anything to provoke him other than giving him a T, but I feel bad for the kid too. There has to be more going on here than meets the eye. When I was 11, playing in a league where 11 was supposed to be the oldest age group, there was a kid on my team who had lied about his age and was a couple years older. He used to throw the ball at the basket so hard, he was better off shooting from 25 feet rather than going for a lay-up. We got along pretty well, but he had an incredibly short fuse. He pushed a friend of mine, who on our team, down the stairs, which of course was weird. He also kicked a ref in the @ss. Long story short, I think he had a lot of things going on with him, and you more felt bad for him than anything. That is the way I kind of feel about this. I am very thankful the ref did not sustain serious injuries (at least it did not appear that way), but I just wonder what provoked such an outrage. I watched it a number of times and could not hear or see the referee do anything to provoke him. But I would not place this as an epidemic. It is an isolated incident with someone making a very bad decision. Just hope that the player gets the help he needs rather than being chastised all over the internet. Have no problem with him being kicked off of the team or being suspended, but it would be nice to hear something good coming out of this story.

JoeWolf1Did any of you guys watch the National Geographic documentary with Henry Rollins last night? It was about the "Warrior Gene" which helps regulate moods. 1 in 3 men have a mutation in this gene causing a defective or non acting mood regulator. The results were inconclusive, 5 MMA fighters didn’t have the mutation while 3 Bhuddist Monks did have the "Warrior Gene".
Not that this kid had it or anything, but it was really interesting. I just hate that this joker got on sports center because he punched a ref, even if he is facing consequences that’s still somewhat glorifying the situation.

mikeyvthedonParticipantGet worse people to discuss the clip/incident? Honestly, because the people they have now are just TOO good.

butidonthavemoneyI remember when Jalen Rose accidently punched Dick Bavetta in the nose. Bavetta had to get surgery.

PureshooterParticipantKind of a strange incident. I think if you’re really trying to physically hurt someone you throw a punch, so maybe he can get a break since it was only a push and a half-assed tackle. It was obviously wrong, but it didn’t seem as if he was really trying to hurt anybody. He’s only a kid, so hopefully he’ll have a chance to play somewhere else. I feel bad for the kid and the ref.
