How will Steve Blake fit in wit the Lakers?

Everyone knows that during his coaching career witht both the Lakers & Bulls ..Phil Jackson has never never never ever had a traditional point guard run the show..1 thing i found strange is Jordan Farmar was 1 of the best point guards while he was at UCLA..But during his stint with the Lakers he never displayed those playmaking skills ..Was it becuz his point guard skills doesn't blend well in the Triangle Offense? Jackson has been blessed with elite players like Jordan,Kobe & Pippen that has often had the offense run thru them..And had backcourt partners like Fisher,Paxson,B.J. Armstrong that could hit the jumper when Jordan or Kobe tried penetrating but couldn't get to the basket...Jackson has also had crafty vets like Ron Harper & Brian Shaw start at the point. Both were smart and could handle the ball but were not point guards...So how will Steve Blake fit in? 1 thing i know,is that the Lakers will welcome his outside shooting..Blake shot 43% from beyond the arc last season.... Blake is known to turn it over alot..So maybe playing in that Triangle System might work well for him...

as you point out, the history

as you point out, the history of phil's triangle teams have had guys like John Paxson, bj armstrong, steve kerr, ron harper, brian shaw, smush parker and derek fisher. It's never been a system that requires or allows much freedom for a pg. Even Gary Payton struggled with it. FOr that reason, im still holding a little hope that farmar can develop into a starting pg somewhere. He can shoot and has great speed. Not sure about how he sets guys up becasue he didnt show too much of it but some of that is the lack of freedom he had. He did averagege 9ppg and 3apg his second year, but then his minutes have gone down since. His playoff experience and learning from guys like kobe and fish will only help him. He is still 24 years old.

As for blake, if he defends and knocks down open jumpers, thats all the team really wants. I like the pick up.

blakes has a 3-1 TO ratio

blake is one of the best in the league at minimising mistakes. he'll fit in great he wont be asked to run the offence just stay in front of his man od defense and make open shots, im pretty sure he can do that.

also the triangle runs

also the triangle runs through the post through the best players(kobe, gasol, odom)so they initiate the offense most of the time thats why you dont need a true point in the triangle you just need a good shooter rather than distributor

Strong pick up

Blake is a good fit there he might start no offense to fisher. LAKERS will be a lot better with a ballhandler like him. Like Perez said he will knock sown shots and is a solid defensive point guard. As a Celtics fan this move made me say fu?k. Good pick up.

Blake will do well and Brian

Blake will do well and Brian Shaw was a point guard. Also Fisher showed better playmaking abilities than Farmar. Vujacic showed better point guard skills than Farmar. Farmar may not be the play maker in the NBA that people envision. I am not saying he is horrible but he may be like on Jameer Nelson level.

bogut will break his other arm, teague will miss most of the season with an inflamed colon and michael redd will make the allstar team and lead them to the second round.
