What is up with this depth chart. Terrible management by Morey in my opinion. Mismatches everywhere.

    PG-Westbrook, Rivers
    SG-Harden, Gordon
    SF-Tucker, Green, House
    PF-Clark, Hartenstein
    C-Capela, Chandler

They also have a bunch of fringe NBA guys like Anthony Bennett, Deyonta Davis, Chiozza, Ponds, Clemons, Micheal Frazier, Mcdowell-White that I guess they are looking for a few to stick.

What are they gonna do? Run a three gaurd lineup with Gordon gaurding SF’s sliding Tucker to PF? Even with Clark playing PF he gives up so much size. Every year Rockets hero ball gets worse and worse and they have done absolutely nothing to resolve this problem.

What’s terrible about it? It’s essentially the same team they had when they were a Chris Paul injury away from beating the Warriors, except they replaced him with Russ. The only contending teams that have the personnel to exploit those mismatches on the wing are the 2 LA teams, but who’s gonna guard Russ and Harden on the Lakers? The Clippers are the only team that can have answers for everything, but if the Rockets can find a way to get Iguodala, they can pretty confidently throw him and Tucker at Kawhi and PG in the playoffs and feel as fine as any team can about it. If anything, the thing that might affect them the most is losing the assistant coach that ran their defense.

Danny Green says hi, don’t underestimate this man defensively. I also expect Bradley to be in shape this year and pretty damn disturbing for opposing point guard, we’ll see. KCP is also alright defending point guards.

I think their depth chart looks more like this

    C Capela/Hartenstein/Chandler
    PF Tucker/Clark/Davis
    SF Harden/House
    SG Gordon/Green/Frazier
    PG Westbrook/Rivers/Chiozza

I really think they could do with an actual SF who can play defense.

1 trade that comes to mind for me is Eric Gordon for Robert Covington.

Rockets get a legit 3&D SF/PF who in no way needs the ball to be an effective scorer & is a hell of a defender.

Wolves get a nice scoring guard & on an expiring contract as well, so will save them money in the long run.

Minnesota is going to use Covington at PF this year though.  They basically want to be somewhat interchangeable from the 2-4 with Covington/Wiggins/Culver.

Surely the Rockets aren’t done signing guys yet? I checked and only ten guys on their roster have guaranteed contracts: the starters plus Rivers, Green, House, Clark and Chandler.

Only 6, maybe 7 of those guys belong in the rotation of a contending team. The Rockets need more players. Lin? Jerebko? Kidd-Gilchrist? Sefolosha? Pau Gasol? Greg Monroe? Dante Cunningham? Somebody help the Rockets!
