USABasketball has announced who will be on the roster via facebook. I made another thread about the possiblities, which is here:

    http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/preliminary-hoop-summit-international-announcements

I will post both of the rosters for the game, starting with the international

    International Team:

    C Przemek Karnowski 7’0 Poland

C Lucas Riva Nogueira 7’0 Brazil

PF Kyle Wiltjer 6’10 Canada (college) Kentucky

    PF Bismack Biyombo 6’9 Congo

    SF Dario Saric 6’8 Croatia

    SG Evan Fournier 6’6 France

    SG Mateusz Ponitka 6’5 Poland

    PG Nenad Miljenovic 6’3 Serbia

PG Myck Kabongo 6’2 Canada (college) Texas

PG Kevin Pangos 6’2 Canada (college) Gonzaga

Their may indeed be one more player, as the Hoop Summit official website does say their will be 11 players. However, it appears that Jonas Valanciunas and Enes Kanter more than likely will not be that player, and that Khem Birch is probably sitting this one out as well. Here is the US roster:

PF/C Rakim Christmas 6’9 (college) Syracuse

    PF Anthony Davis 6’10 Kentucky

PF James McAdoo 6’8 North Carolina

    SF Mike Gilchrist 6’7 Kentucky

    SF Adonias Thomas 6’6 Memphis

    SG Austin Rivers 6’4 Duke

    SG Bradley Beal 6’3 Florida

SG Tony Wroten Jr. 6’5 Washington

    PG Marquis Teague 6’2 Kentucky

    PG Quinn Cook 6’0 Duke

Should be a very interesting game. As usual, the International team is much bigger up front, but the US team is WAY more quick and athletic. Shooting could make a huge difference here, and we will see if Lucas Nogueira, Przemek Karnowski and Bismack Biyombo take advantage with their size or get left behind by the frantic pace of the US team. Anyone else have some thoughts or comments, feel free to leave them.

How would you rank these prospects on NBA potential at this point and who are the ones you think will play the best? Any International or even domestic prospects that are you are disappointed did not make the team? Just an FYI, 8 of the 10 US players won Gold Medals be it with the U17 or U18 US Teams over the summer (The two that did not were Rakim Christmas and Anthony Davis, the teams really only legitimate Center options). Who do you think will win the game and be the MVP?

I will give my thoughts on the rankings more than likely after the game, but the US might have the four best prospects for the 2012 draft in this game in Austin Rivers, Anthony Davis, Mike Gilchrist and James McAdoo. Nogueira and Biyombo are two very intriguing prospects, but the rest are relatively young and may not enter the draft until possibly 2014 or so. Dario Saric will be a very interesting player to see, as he is gaining a great deal of buzz and is only the age of a junior. He is a definite possibility for next years Hoop Summit as well. Ultimately, I think the US will win and Rivers will more than likely be the leading scorer and MVP, but I am rooting for as good of a game as last year. No player on the International Roster seems to be close to the prospect Kanter was, but I really hope a few players stand out and to see a competitive game.

looks to be an interesting game. Really really wish though that Jonas, Jan, Donatas and Enes could all participate. With those guys, I think the game is a complete toss up. But the rosters as announced I think the US will win comfortably. With Beal, Rivers, Wroten and Cook on the perimeter, they will be runnin’ and gunnin’ allll day. Then you have McAdoo, Rakim and A. Davis in the post, they can all cancel out Wiltjer and Noguiera. What’s the date on this game? I missed it last year. International prospects wise, I really want to see how Kabongo is going to handle the US’s gaurds and I want to see how Noguiera and Fournier fare as they have a lot of buzz but unknown to most American basketball fans, die hard or casual.

forgot to mention Gilchrist, he’s Mr. do-it-all, he can gaurd the permiter, post up smaller guys but with how big the international team is, a slower/bigger guy will most likely be gaurding him and he can get by them probably with considerable ease

If Kanter plays in this game he should have his way and the international team could come out with a win.

Is the game date, at 7 pm west coast time at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. I will be there, and was there last year and in 2008. Jan and Donatas are both too old to compete in the game really, but Kanter and Jonas could have as they were born in 1992, which is acceptable. Donatas was on the team in 2009 that beat the Americans, though Milan Macvan was the huge driving force and lead his team in scoring, rebounding and assists. Macvan is eligible for the draft this year and could definitely be a possible second round pick, though it is unknown how willing he would be to play in the NBA or how his game would translate. He was compared to a shorter and less athletic Kevin Love, though it is not like he is going to be leading the league in rebounds or making All-Star teams.

Gilchrist will indeed be a tough match-up, and the shooting of Rivers and Beal should balance the shooting of the European players pretty well. I think Kabongo is at a level where he can compete with their guards athletically, and it will be interesting to see if he can, because Cory Joseph was not really able too last year. I do think Kabongo is considerably quicker than Cory though, while Cory is a superior shooter. Will be cool to see what Pangos does, I have never seen him live, only watched a few of his games, but he has a solid skill set, but it will be interesting to see if he keeps up with the likes of Marquis Teague and Quinn Cook, both of whom he played pretty well against this summer.

Their are a number of intriguing European guys, but Saric should be the most interesting. He will have to be very aggressive on both ends of the floor to keep up with the talent the US has at the wing position. He is currently the top rated player in 1994 by Eurohopes and seems to show a lot of promise. This site did an article on him when he was only 14, and I think he has just improved a great deal over time. Miljenovic is Eurohopes top rated player in 1993 and is called a Serbian version of Ricky Rubio, so he too will be interesting to see, as Rubio never had a chance to play in this game. It is really too bad Jonas Valanciunas is not playing, but Kanter showed everything he needed to last year and if he were playing I might favor the internationals. But, with the roster as is, I think the US are probably huge favorites with a collection of gold medal players from the summer of 2010 and their usual athletic advantages.

I see the U.S struggling to score down low. Macadoo can score down low but he’s more of a face up big. Christmas is raw and Davis is more of a SF then a post big.

I apologize bro. He does not appear to be on the team, but he is playing McDonald’s All-American and Jordan Brand classic, as is Khem Birch (and Kyle Wiltjer, though Wiltjer probably has to drive like 15 minutes to the game so it is very convenient for him). I am a tad disappointed with the rosters, I was hoping for more top draft prospects from this year, but this game can surprise. Biyombo is a downer though, as is Miljenovic if he is left off. Saric to me is by far the most intriguing, though again I do not know how he will match-up athletically. Just know that two years before he was drafted Andrea Bargnani played in the Hoop Summit and scored 2 points, only to be #1 pick in the 2006 draft. He was only 17 though, and I think Ryan Richards played in the game as a 15/16 year old. Really hope someone steps up for a big performance, and if I had to guess, it would be John Bryant, who is now official property of the North Pole.
