RUDEBOY_ParticipantThe Miami Sun Sentinel is reporting the Miami Heat have waived Forward DeShaun Butler & Guard Patrick Beverly…Many people were surprise at them releasing 2 players with upside..Before his injury in the NCAA Tournament,Butler was considered a 1st round pick..The injury to guard Mike Miller forced the Heat to sign a player that could contribure right away….Many were expecting the Heat to waive veteran center Jamaal Magloire….
The Heat had to get down to a 15 man roster before the 6pm deadline…

The8thDeadlySinParticipantGay… They kept Butler for that long, why wait till now to waive him.. They have other players that can play that swing position to keep Butler…. Oh well.. I guess thats why I am not a GM…

marcusfizer21Participantwhy retain a washed up Magloire? — I really don’t understand this crap with waiving young kids and prefering another old man

omphalosParticipantThis could actually work out for the best for Butler, as a senior he’s already pretty old, and spending six years behind Wade and Lebron in Miami would have been a pretty anticlimactic career. I hope he ends up somewhere like Charlotte or New Orleans where he could get some PT. That injury really derailed his career, I really hope he recovers and makes it in the NBA.

durantula83ParticipantThese cuts were made from a financial standpoint. Butler, who got a 2 year deal, only received partial financial guarantees for both seasons of the deal. Injured and a partially guaranteed contract, that’s an easy decision to make right now, no matter how good he can be again in time.
Patrick Beverley however, received a fully-guaranteed two-year, $1.2 million contract. I think it was a close call between him and Jamaal Magloire, who also has a guaranteed one-year deal but will earn slightly more with $1.4 million this season. I think the Heat management were against cutting Magloire for the simple fact that they received alot of heat upon signing him to a guaranteed contract in the first place. Releasing him already would be like admitting their mistake.

canesboy6ParticipantUseless at this point. Maybe he is a great locker room guy. Beverly can help this team. Carlos Arroyo shouldn’t play a single minute for that team, he is literally the worst player in the league. Gotta be someboy better, cant even believe he is still on the team.
Stupid Stupid Stupid if you ask me. You make a great move to get Stack and then you go and keep magloire. They need some young legs, lets see what Riley does during the season. Dont believe for a second these are the troops were taking to the playoffs.

canesboy6ParticipantThe Heat bench is very underrated I think, on paper. Cant say either way about production because we havent seen yet, so its pointless. But on paper…
Haslem is a super solid sub. Denver and Dallas wanted to give him mid-level.
James Jones is a highly respected journeyman. San Antonio offered him Mid-level I believe. He is a poormans James Posey.
Z is obviously not the Z of old but as good a midrange shooting center in the league. Especially in a lesser role, he will be useful. Doesnt do us much good against Bynum or Howard though.
Eddie House is the definition of clutch. He is who I expect to be playing point for us when it really matters. LBJ will handle the ball though.
Juwan Howard still has some gas in the tank. He is smart, defends tough, and knows his role. Dont underestimate how hungry guys like him, and Z are. This is realistically there best and last chance at a ring.
To me, the missing link for this team, that pushes them from contender to favorite, is Dampier. If they can land him, they will have a much better answer at the center spot for Bynum, Howard, and Shaq. He is almost a must get for them, I dont think Joel anthony can hold up.
