After agreeing with Allen the HEAT are at it again. Rashard Lewis is heading to south beach as well. The HEAT had some solid 3 point shooters last year and have now added 2 great ones.

For the league minimum Rashard Lewis is a good pickup. I wonder if they can help him play some defense and rebound. If he does that he could really be a useful addition.

Rashard Lewis isn’t really gonna help all that much, he’ll get you one or two open looks from 3 but thats about it, idk what Miami is trying to do adding so many 3 point campers

Well the word was there is a chance James Jones retires and they aren’t sure if Mike Miller will need back surgery so at this moment they replaced the two of them with the awesome Ray Allen and the mediocre Rashard Lewis. If the Heat don’t acquire any other big guys then I guess they will commit to using Lebron at the 4 with Battier at the 3. It worked out in the finals for them.

Does anyone know any centers they could possibly pick up? Also, is Justin Hamilton able to make an impact on this Heat team?

If he comes in dedicated & re-focused, GREAT pick up.

If not, Eddy Curry will have a new friend.

they can shoot great now, they have a lot of shooters, that is why lebron is so important, he is a playmaker and does everything, he also wins so a lot of people will want to play with him. they have chalmers, allen, battier, lewis, bosh who can spread the floor for lebron and wade, that means they will have a ton of space on offense this year to score or get those guys open, they also have a nice bench too. I think that they should be the favorites again.

strongly doubt that happens, they will play lbj at 4 just about as much as they did last year

I agree, they used Lebron at the "4" a good amount during the regular season, but he really played power forward a lot once Bosh went out in the playoffs. If Battier’s defensive abilities continue to hold up, it’s not a big deal since he guards the power forward more often anyway. Think about it, if Joel Anthony doesn’t work his way back into the rotation and they don’t add any other big guys…who’s getting minutes at the 4 and 5? Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem…maybe Shane Battier, Rashard Lewis, and undoubtedly Lebron. Eddy Curry, Dexter Pittman, and Justin Hamilton aren’t too likely to be part of the rotation…right now Eddy Curry isn’t even under contract.

Not sure how much Lewis helps as he isn’t an upgrade over battier, rayallen, or a healthy mike miller. Death is nice to cover injuries. But the heat need another center.

At the least Lewis is one of the strongest most positive bench guys in the league, in terms of intangibles. Great leader and influence on his teammates. The truth though is that on the court his play has deteriorated mightily. His 3 point shot is incredibly flat now, he can’t slash well anymore, and defensively he’s best fit at PF because he lacks the footspeed to defend on the perimter now. But you can’t overrate the value of having stars around you and having them elevate your game, wouldn’t shock me to see him get his shot back, still though lets not act like he’s going to be logging major minutes. If anything he’ll backup LeBron and Bosh for decent minutes.

This will be a great pickup IF his knees are right.

His knees are in very bad condition, which is why his shot has falled incredibly flat like ghettosermon  said above. He just can’t seem to get his legs up underneath him like he used to during his days with the Magic.

if rashard lewis could get a rebound maybe this would be a good pickup. no but in all seriousness this was a good pickup for the league minimum, if he can hit open threes then he will stretch the defense and prove to be valuable for them. camby would have been a much better pickup considering his rebounding and defensive abilities would give them something they’ve long needed.
