ZouldiersParticipantThey extend him to 3yrs/39M with a team option on year 3. Honestly, I don’t mind the extension since he might get paid more in free agency next year and his contract is much easier to trade than the likes of Waiters and James Johnson. He has improved his ball-handling and shooting over the past 3 years and hopefully he stays healthy because that’s pretty much what’s holding him back.
I don’t like our cap situation since we’re tied up to a group of role players but hopefully one of Josh Richardson, Bam Adebayo or Justise Winslow can be much more.

HitsterParticipantFair deal for both sides – Justise gets a good payday but the Heat only have added two further guaranteed years to his deal ands have nice a nice team option if they ever need a trade piece in the future.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantMakes sense for both sides: The lock up some youth for cheap and he gets security if he gets another injury which there seems to have been a few so far :S .. I was kind of expecting him to be a little further along by this point..
Anyhow, I am calling it now: If Butler is somehow traded to the heat it will be for something like this:
Bam,Winslow,Josh R + 1 or 2 picks for Butler and Diengs deal..
Question for Heat fans:
What is so special about Josh R?Why would the Heat not trade him for Jimmy B(if that was the legit hold up) Is he like the next paul george or something? As I haven’t been following him to this point.

220ParticipantThe Heat were eventually willing to include Josh Richardson and apparently the Wolves asked for more once he was included. Richardson is a really strong defender and is a solid player offensively. From my prospective if he keeps developing he could be a fringe all star type of player. He’s really a Heat kind of guy which is likely largely why they were reluctant to deal him in the first place.

ZouldiersParticipantHe shown flashes of his two-way potential this preseason scoring over 20 points and playing great D. Like on the first comment, he could be a fringe allstar. Even analyst like C-Webb and Doris Burke see that in J-Rich.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantAny team that trades for Butler has to be concerned of his impact he may have on the younger players on that team. He’s already torched torched young players on both Chicago and Minnesota.

HitsterParticipantJosh Richardson is a Thibs type player but Pat Riley is one of the smartest deal makers in the NBA so he won’t give away a stupid amount to get Butler.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantI don’t think Winslow gets this much as a restricted free agent next summer. They are paying him for the breakout season he hasn’t had yet. It also makes me think that they are the team that has the most to lose by not paying up to get Jimmy Butler. They have too many long-term eight-figure salaries to not have a top ten-to-fifteen player in the league to bring it all together.

ZouldiersParticipantWell, one of them did end up as an all star lol. one of them was traded for Jimmy Butler and one of them is on the Clippers.
