Lotto StudParticipantESPN bottom line just reported they will acquire Mike Bibby & they are the front runners for Troy Murphy as well.

mikeyvthedonParticipantI hope it improves them as a team. Neither of them help on the defensive end at either of their need positions, but both are solid contributors. Any team they go too will more than likely get an improvement in a needed role. I have never seen a waiver acquisition from a buy out really put a team over the top, but I think Mike Bibby will be a much needed team leader and is an improvement as far as a game manager to any of the Heat’s other PG’s. Mike is not the same PG he was in Sacramento, but he is solid and will certainly be an interesting get. The Heat needed him more than any other team that is in general contention, so this is a nice grab for them. Also, if they cut Arroyo/Magloire for Bibby/Murphy, that is a decent upgrade. It does not make Miami unbeatable, they still need to prove that, but it will more than likely make them better.

Lotto StudParticipantT.J. Ford would be a better upgrade then Bibby for Miami.

doubledribblerParticipantWhy do I keep hearing TJ Fords name as being the best fit for Miami? I think he is definitely the better player, but he’s not going to get to handle the ball and he can’t shoot. Bibby is perfectly comfortable spotting up. In fact that’s probably about all he does now is spot of from 3. I’m more surprised that he gave up his next years salary to get set free.

kaceyParticipantHas TJ been bought out yet? I think Bibby will fit in well with Miami. Just spot up and shoot the 3 ball. Defensively, I don’t think he is much of an upgrade over Chalmers though.

JoeWolf1I think he’s a downgrade defensively compared to Chalmers, but he has tons of experience and that will be a huge asset in the playoffs.

JNixonParticipantT.J. Ford isn’t the kind of player they need really, unless he has developed a jump shot that has consistency. Ford also needs the ball to be effective and is more of a natural PG (guy who handles the ball alot and create offense) than the Heat really need. Bibby is a good fit for the time being for the Heat. Provides shooting and experience, and Miami’s rotations on D will make up for the fact that he has a hard time denying dribble penetration.

flyboyParticipantBibby is on the downside of his career, but he’s a better player than Chalmers, House and Arroyo. He can give them shooting and more of a floor general and distributor than their current PGs.

boxn1ParticipantIts a move, not a bad one,or a good one. Bibby won’t put Miami over the top,or loose them any games. What they need is to aquire a half-court offense. For Pete’s sake call a play under 2 mins in a quater Coach….
