Mr. 19134ParticipantBarnes is amazing but its going to be closer then you think next year with Perry Jones, Josh Selby, Kyrie Irving, and CJ Leslie all potentially having great freshman seasons and if a team gets the first pick that is in dire need at the PG position dont rule out Irving, Selby, or Knight being in the discussion for the number one pick and the only thing that could stop Perry Jones is staying at Baylor another year.

Mr. JewboyParticipanthe really looks like he’s got potential. he’s got great height for the wing position, as well as length and he’s also athletic with a sweet stroke
jim calhoun also said he’s got a great work ethic, one of the best he’s ever seen(and he’s coached guys like rip hamilton and ray allen)
combine those things and you’ve got one heck of a prospect0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2010 - 9:43am #366820
OhCanada-ParticipantScary combination right here is..
He is a great slasher and cutter and has the abillity to create his own shot with a lightning quick release and he is not even officialy a Freshman. WOW.

esperanzafleet69Participanti completely agree mr19134… i still think the number one pick is a complete tossup and i think itll be that way until the lottery happens next year… tons of talent in this draft…

WrecklessParticipantoh man…
For some reason I thought you were Franfran.
I think he’s gonna be a heck of a pro. His game is really smooth.0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2010 - 9:48am #366829
SubZeroParticipantI’m scared to play UNC next year lol…who’s gonna guard him? Darius Miller? He’s gonna go off on us
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2010 - 9:52am #366832
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI’m so excited to see him play. As a Dukie, I wish he changed his blue for something a little darker but hey, Were the defending champs- We have some wings and some post players ready to double him.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2010 - 9:54am #366834
SubZeroParticipantWill he be the next great player in the NBA?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2010 - 9:55am #366837
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantLet’s slow down now. He didn’t even play a college game. Let’s wait and see.

Bryant24ParticipantAs a carolina fan um glad we got him he’s more athletic then given credit and his nice shooting form and has very good range since i live in north carolina i cant wait to go to the unc vs duke game.

PaulsJayhawksParticipantI agree next years draft is really goo in the top 10 and anyone can go # 1. I think Barnes is probably the leader but Kanter if you need a big, or the Knight,Selby,Irving trio if you need a guard could sneak ahead of him. Jones could have a great year with a good Baylor team as well. No doubt Barnes is top 3 though.

llperezevery time i see these clips of highschool players, im dissapointed that they focus on dunks. Call me old school, but i honestly want to see them shooting contested jumpers and dribbling through traffic and showing footwork. I cant watch a bunch of dunks and get excited about a player.

ghettosermonParticipantI’m not talking about what he turned out to be in the NBA, but simply comparing them as prospects in college does Barnes skill set and body not remind anyone of Marvin Williams?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2010 - 11:43am #366888
JNixonParticipantMarvin Williams was bigger than him, wasn’t as big a threat from college 3-point range, and wasn’t as polished all-around as Barnes is. I see him as a Luol Deng-type player at the same stage. I have no doubts he’ll be better though in the long-run. Barnes is literally outstanding at every aspect of the game, except he has only decent handles.

gregoden08ParticipantCan’t wait to see him play…I totally agree with the Deng comparison Iggy.

Da1potParticipantI like the Deng comparison. But is Harrison Barnes a first option type scorer in the NBA? Personally, I really like his versatility and think he can be a first option in the NBA. I also like his character and the fact that he has had no academic issues, run ins with the law, etc. I just think he should improve his handle a little, that is his only flaw.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2010 - 12:58pm #366920
kobyzParticipantthe closest comparison for Harrison Barnes that can be made is: Harrison Barnes = Kevin Durant(strongrer?)

canesboy6ParticipantThe Kid is a LOCK, barring a catastrophic injury, to be a superstar. His legit measurements are 6’7.25 in shoes 215 lbs with a 7 foot wingspan. FYI those are almost identical measurements to Lebron at the combine.
He has that Tyler Hansbrough work ethic to go on top of it. Its one of those dumb things you get sick of hearing, but when you know for a fact the kid is a monster worker, it makes him a much better investment. He already has amazing Iso game, can shoot, drive, and post, and has all the tools to be a terror on defense as well. He is going to be a 6’7 2 guard with elite athleticism and killer off dribble game. And range. This is the next great wing in the NBA IMO.

wd40rocksParticipantAnd to think he just started playing on the perimeter about a year and a half ago…
crazy
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2010 - 1:37pm #366931
SteroidParticipantI think he will be a better scorer than Deng, but he has a long body like Deng and he slashes like him too it seems. I think he has a combination of Deng’s size, length with Paul Pierce’s create shot ability and perimeter scoring.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 08/02/2010 - 7:32pm #367076
dipt1982ParticipantIreally think he’s a fit between the Marvin Williams and Deng comparisons…Williams was so highly touted coming out of high school, it’s hard to put the LOCK logo on any player anymore. He absolutely has the tools, not really impressed with his jumper, but it’s there. I really see him as a quicker, more explosive Marvin Williams…

lalailaParticipanti really really disagree with people who says this guy doesn’t look like #1 pick. He really really looks like “the man” everywhere he plays..he could be as special as only second freshman ever to win NPOY award.
BTW couple people out there said this draft is so good..isn’t this draft very very weak like most of people thought?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/03/2010 - 4:37am #367115
ghettosermonParticipantI agree he is as of now the clear cut front runner to be the #1 pick, but almost all Mcdonalds all americans look like “the man” wherever they play in high school, so lets see him play first, if he can resurrect UNC he will be the automatic #1 pick. Everything is set up for him to be the star of college basketball this year and the #1 pick , he needs to go out and prove it now.

stanford hoopsi doubt that its gonna be close between barnes, kyrie, jones , and cj
kyrie- because hes gonna be the third option at best on that team. he should have a solid season kinda like jason williams first year or chris duhon
jones-just doesnt have the fire even though he has the potential to be better then all of them his skills just arent up to par with barnes
cj-hes just not as skilled. right now he does work by being more athletic with a nice motor
i think shelby will be close to barnes since he’s gonna step in from day one with the ball in his hands with kansas needing a number one guard
0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/03/2010 - 8:56am #367194
stanford hoopsi dont think barnes is gonna win player of the year. there are other upper classmen who are better right now and have a better chance. dont be suprised if nolan smith or shingler wins it

dipt1982ParticipantMichael Beasley was a beast in his freshmen year…I’m just saying…
