    Xinjiang FT – Guangdong ST 76-86 (0-1)

    The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-76. Guandong Tigers dominated on the defensive end, holding Xinjiang Flying Tige to just 6 points in second quarter. Guandong Tigers forced 19 Xinjiang Flying Tige turnovers and outrebounded them 45-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Xinjiang Flying Tige helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of international Jianlian Yi (212-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds.

    American guard Donald Sloan (191-88, college: Texas A&M) contributed with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. Guandong Tigers’ coach ChunJiang Li used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) answered with 30 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard QinPeng Zhang (187-81) added 12 points in the effort for Xinjiang Flying Tige.

    The game without a history. Shandong Bulls led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Beijing Ducks’ 38 and made 18-of-19 charity shots (94.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Beijing Ducks 52-35 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 19 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners and American point guard Pooh Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) chipped in 30 points and 5 rebounds.

    At the losing side American guard Stephon Marbury (188-77, college: Georgia Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 assists and the other American import power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
