I doubt that. And even if he does, it’s very difficult to get GSP on the ground in the first place. Dude is impossible to bring down.0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/09/2011 - 12:27pm #519598
llperezgsp is better at every aspect of mma except submissions. Seeing shields dominate dan henderson on the ground gives me hope that we might see gsp show off his stand up more this fight, but i doubt it. GSP by complete domination is my prediction.

llperezyeah, amazing fight. Diaz standing and banging with daley was gutsy and it almost cost him. But Diaz is a great fighter and he says he is gonna give boxing a try this year. Would love to see diaz in the ufc fighting the top 170’ers in the sport.

NBATalk20098ParticipantNick Diaz would kill GSP in the cage like he did to paul daley

llperezhahahahahahahahahahahahah
good one nbatalk, i needed a good laugh
seriously though, we have already seen what diaz is beat by, wrestlers. When was the last even ok wrestler he fought? Dont waste your time looking cause it doesnt exist. GSP just happens to be the p4p best wrestler in the world and makes world class wrestlers look like they have never tried the sport.
Of course diaz has a chance. But lets be real. He will not KO GSP. Diaz does not have 1 punch KO power, he ususlly overwhlems opponents with his punches, but he aint gonna be on his feet long enough vs gsp for that to happen. When it does hit the floor, diaz has elite submission skills so its possible he could pull of a sub, but gsp is too smart to fall for anything and is a BJJ black belt himself.
I like diaz, but DO NOT let his average competition outside the ufc allow you to beleive he is on par with GSP. Diaz would be a good fight, but gsp hasnt lost a single round in like 4 years let alone a fight.

NBATalk20098ParticipantGSP got no standing game but only has ground game

NYCrealdealParticipanti have GSP winning a decition. i see gsp in a scare two times in the fight. in the end of the seccond round i think shields will have a submission in and almost tap out gsp, but he get out. and i see in round three shields taking gsp down. gsp will use his jab and win.

NYCrealdealParticipantdid u see GSP vs koschec? i know GSP doesnt have one punch knowck out power but his jabs are DEADLY. hes a very technical striker. saying he has no stand up is such bs.

ghettosermonParticipantEveryone is completely underrating Shields ground game. His grappling/wrestling, and jiu jitsu are elite. He is one of the best american jitz players in MMA right now. With that said Shields is not as lethal on his back which is where he will ulitmately end up. He needs top control. He will need to rely on sweeps to get into more favorable positions. Standing GSP has a clear advantage because of Speed. Jake Shields has incredibly slow and mechnical stand up. Not Phil Davis bad, but it’s pretty bad. He has a monster chin though shown in the Hendo fight so there is little to no chance GSP knocks him out. I think all in all GSP wins pretty comfortably with maybe Shields taking a round or 2.
As for the rest of the card should be a coming out party for Aldo although I am slightly nervous about him having ring rust. Hominick is definitely game on the feet. Machida and Randy actually has potential to be increidbly boring. Machida is a counter striker but Randy won’t press the striking when he’s at a distance. Randy’s gameplan will definitely be to pin him against the cage and rough him up and implement dirty boxing. Kind of like what he did to Vera. This actually has potential to be an incredibly boring fight if you consider Machida’s Rampage fight. In the end I think Machida will utilize some trips to work some top game and will get the better of the exchanges. Machida UD. Best fight on the card is probably Mark Bocek vs Benson Henderson. Bockek’s bjj is tops in the 155 division. Bendo though is probably the better overall grappler if you consider his wrestling, sprawls, and tree trunk legs. I see Bendo taking the fight in an exciting contest.
