I think it would be interesting to see what everyone thought of the draft of the team they know the most about.

As a Celtics fan, I like their draft.  Marshon Brooks did intrigue me, but the Celtics were in desperate need of any big man, and getting another 2nd rounder was a pretty nifty move. Johnson may not be great, but he has the potential to be a better offensive player down the line than Glen Davis, and could emerge into a good pick and pop big man who can take advantage of mismatches in the post.

Also, E’Twaun Moore gives the Celtics good value for a 2nd rounder.  Most 2nd rounders are long shots to make their teams, but I think that Moore will beat out Von Wafer for a spot.  I also think that he could be a superior little used reserve guard than Avery Bradley, despite Bradley’s better long term potential

     pistons:

loved the knight pick: if rip doesnt return i think stuckey moves to the starting two guard and knight can maybe start at the one

didnt really like the singler pick, maybe cuz prince wont come back and dumars wants a proven player instead of honeycutt to get immdiate mintues as a backup to daye

and the macklin pick was just out of desperation imo to get bigger inside

    overall: c plus for detroit

My Hawks only had one pick in this draft and it was mid way in the 2nd round.  That being said, I think that we got good value for that pick in Keith Benson.  If this kid would have come out last year he would have been a borderline 1st round pick.

I would have liked to seen a Josh Smith trade for a lottery pick and possibly a legit center but Rick Sund is too stubborn and still believes that this team can compete for a championship.  Will he ever learn?  Probably not but at least we didn’t waste our lone pick on an international guy that won’t see U.S. soil for at least 3 years.

I thought the Kings ended up with a decent draft but they made the worst trade of the day yesterday. I still can’t fathom why we traded away our starting PG (although not a good one) for John Salmons who just adds to the logjam at SG and is older and makes more money just to move back 3 spots.

I predicted that Brandon Knight would fall to the Kings and he did…. too bad the Kings management sucks and we traded back before we knew that. If they really wanted to take Jimmer than just take him at 7 and keep Beno. There was absolutely no benefit to move back and take Jimmer at 10. At 7 we would have had the choice between Knight, Kemba, and Jimmer… the decision should have been obvious (Knight) but at least there would have been options.

I think Honeycutt was a steal in the 2nd Round and could be a good SF for us. I know we already have Garcia-Casspi-Greene but eventually someone has to step up and make some shots off the bench.

I think now we are basically stuck with Jimmer as our starting "PG" since we got rid of Beno. The Kings still need to make moves (but they won’t) and clear the logjam at the SF spot and get a decent PG to fill in until Jimmer may or may not be ready. Jimmer was brought to sell tickets but if the Kings are terrible again and show no effort then it doesn’t matter how many Jimmer’s are on the team… they will leave Sacramento.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for some signs of success but i think it is going to be a long season (if there is one at all)

    Draft: B+ —- Trade: D-

didn’t do much, had an early pick that they used on Jonas V who is intrguing as a pro prospect, but I wonder about what exactly can he bring to immediate Raptors team. I think there were better players avaliable that could had address some immediate issue, although Jonas isn’t bad at all.

got to give my Jazz a A

They got the Best big man

and maybe the best shooting guard in the draft!!!!

(For just a minute I thought that Knight might actually drop to them at 12)

Nets I give an A to because they had nothing and turned it into a possible starting SG and backup big. Pretty good.

I think the Jazz and the Spurs technically did the best with what they had.

I agree with what they did.  I wanted them be proactive rather then reactive.  I wanted them to target someone and then get that player rather then just take whoever fell to them.  It there was no player at 28 who GarPax felt could help them then trading up to get someone who may be good in a couple of years is ok with me.  Now if they just didn’t want to pay someone or if they felt that Tibs could not coach rookies so they just punted well that is not ok.  But I will give them the benefit of the doubt on that.

Butler is OK.  Deng does need a backup and if Butler is as close to ready as there was at that point then he was a reasonable pick.

They still need a SG and likely will need to trade for one.  Not sure what assests they have to give up to get one.  I thought it might be Gibson and therefore they would draft a PF to replace Gibson but that didn’t happen.

    B.  I know from the Jordan years it is difficult to find someone at the end of the draft who can help so doing what they did makes sense.  They filled (hopefully) their second biggest need but still have their biggest need yet to fill.

As a Celtics fan myself, I agree with B ball fan’s post. While Marshon Brooks is the better of the two, his lack of defense, and attitude would be a problem in the celtics. He would either be benched for most of the game, or kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers would have to really push him around until he becomes a better defensive player. I like that they took Johnson. They need size and youth and got it. He probably won’t be the best choice, but he does bring some good things to the team. I also like the second draft pick. Good move by Ainge to get jajuan and a 2014 second round draft pick.

Also, my favorite part of about the celtics right now is next year’s draft. Not a lot of people know (or remember) that when we traded kendrick perkins, not only did we get jeff green, we also got a first round top 10 protected draft pick from the clippers for next year’s draft. This means that we get two first round picks next year in what should be a strong draft. I am very excited for that.

    C. I strongly disagree with drafting Marcus Morris over Kawhi. He doesn’t have the foot speed to play the NBA 3, and I really don’t see much potential for growth in his game…it’s pretty much what you see is what you get. While he is versatile, he’s a tweener and we already have a log jam at the 4 with Scola, Patterson, Hill. Really don’t like it. After picking Morris, we trade up for another 4 in Donatas. The guy is skilled as a faceup player for a 7-footer, but he acts like he’s allergic to rebounding. I would’ve much rather stayed at 23 & taken Jordan Hamilton in that spot.

Trade: B+ getting rid of the overpaid & underutilized Miller was a good thing. He was only brought in for Adleman’s system, but since he’s now out he was expendable. Flynn is liked by McHale & I still think he can be better than he’s shown to this point. He could be a solid backup to Lowry providing the same energy & intensity.

Not my favorite team…but when the Bulls moved up I really thought they were going for Marshon Brooks. He just made so much sense and filled really the only glaring need on the team. They need another guy who can put the ball in the bucket and is capable of creating his own shot. He has good size & athleticism and Thibs would’ve been the perfect coach to get the most out of his defensive tools.
