carmen5ParticipantAustin Daye, Jeremy Pargo, Josh Heytvelt, Matt Bouldin, Micah Downs. All appear to be really good players at times but none of them with the exception of austin daye, have been mentioned as solid prospects. Pargo is probably the number 2 athlete at the point guard position, i think he will be solid, possibly a star even ( maybe) he is very experienced and has a decent jump shot. Heytvelt smokes himself some reefer but he is very versatile and skilled, reminds me of a mix between josh mcroberts and mehmet okur, bouldin is undersized but a good shooter, poor athlete, but very aggressive. Micah Downs SHOULD be the best out of the group, hes a great athlete, hes big at 6’8″ and he can stroke it, yet he just doesnt always produce. Does anybody think that these players have a future? Late in the draft i would take a chance on micah downs, why not? Rather have him on my roster than some pinko commy giant that will never pan out.

JVCParticipantJeremy Pargo will be a fluke in the NBA. He’s not a shooter, he’s not a passer, he’s turnover prone… the only good thing of his game, is his athletic ability.
Matt Bouldin is the atagonist of Pargo. He’s a good shooter (will be better, he has good mechanics), he’s a scorer, he’s a better passer, bad athletic ability…
I really think that Bouldin can be a good role player at NBA level… I think I’m the only one 🙁
Then… Daye, like Prince?! Hell no! He makes me remember Kevin Durant, better shooter, worst overall scorer.
Heytvelt, I believe he can have a career like Brad Miller.
Micah Downs… I dont think he has the skills to be a NBA player.

los507ParticipantHe could be the next Odom a guy with uncanny athletic and basketball ability but plays with little to no heart at times. There are times that you forget that he’s out there. Then there are other times when he looks like he could end up being a all world type of player with that mixture of skill and length. Needs to stick around a little longer and he’ll develop some and become more consistant he has NBA in his blood so he’ll be fine. Hopefully his dad will guide him and show him some tricks of the trade. He’ll be a player in the league just needs to be patient. Pargo is going to be pretty good in my opinion he might even be more effective playing in the league where it’s a little more wide open than NCAA basketball. About as athletic as you can ask for at the point,he’ll pick up the little nuances of the game with some quality playing time in the league. Would help if he played behind a true veteran for a while to teach him the ropes. Heytvelt could be a nice rotation guy or a guy that could develop into a fringe starter or a D-league veteran. The end outcome depends solely on him has got to be more assertive. Micah Downs I didn’t think he was that good at Kansas so I just can’t say he just doesn’t show enough but,he could surprise people.

grwgoden08ParticipantHonestly, nobody on this Gonzaga team has good potential…maybe Daye, but becides height and a good stroke what does he have to offer? Can you imagine him guarding the elite sf’s in the NBA? omg the kid will be destroyed.

carmen5ParticipantThe only knocks on his game is that he isnt a great shooter and he turns the ball over on occasion. Other than that hes a solid pg. TJ ford had the same complaints made about him.

rtbtParticipantMatt Bouldin is a nice, above average college player. Forget about him in the NBA, he just doesn’t have the athleticism to play guard in the pros.
Daye has a lot of potential but he’s too soft. Some people believe he will go in the lottery, I think he will be lucky if he’s drafted late in the first round. He just doesn’t have the toughness to make it in the NBA.
Micah Downs is your prototypical under achiever. He is a good athlete, he is an excellent shooter, however, once the game starts, he under performs big time. Even though he has the skill set to play in the pros, he will never make it. People always cite his athleticism and shooting ability, but they never show up during the game.
Heytvelt is a player who might have an NBA career as a backup power forward. He is a skilled big man as a power forward, but he seems to lack the drive to excel. When you watch Gonzaga play, it feels as if the game passes him by. It’s almost as if he’s watching the action, as opposed to getting down low and using his excellent physical skills.
In my opinion, Pargo is Mr. Inconsistent and I wouldn’t want him on my team. One play he looks great and then the next time down the court he does something ridiculous. He might make it as a backup somewhere, but I would be surprised if he stays in the NBA. He will probably have a nice career in Europe.

rtbtParticipantSomebody brought up this old thread [maybe it was spam?] and I saw my Gonzaga analysis from last March, and much to my surprise, it still looks fairly accurate on November 2nd.
