This is the ERA of the Point Guard as everyone has been saying and you cannot argue that. There are amazing point guards old and new lacing them up for the hardwood in the NBA right now. But I think the ERA has space for more, Its an ERA of Forwards as well the Tweeners between SF/PF with guys between 6’7-6’10 who have the skill set or potential to take you on the block and take you outside. In the NBA right now we have guys like

    Lebron James

    Carmelo Anthony

    Kevin Durant

    Kevin Love

    Amare Stoudamire

    Lamar Odom

    Blake Griffin

    Michael Beasley

    Anthony Randolph

    Josh Smith

    Hedo Turkaglo

Dirk (even though he is 7 feet he is a great tweener)

    Jeff Green

    Derrick Williams

    Thats just to name some I probably forgot a bunch of names but you get the idea but those are the guys now in the league and all of them have all-star potential, are all-stars, are future HOF. Then there are players coming from high school and college who are exploding with potential and waiting for their time to take on these NBA forwards like;

    Jabari Parker

    Brandon Ashley

    Anthony Davis

    Harrison Barnes

    Terrence Jones

    Perry Joness III

    Quincy Miller

    James McAdoo

    Julius Randle

    Andrew Wiggins

    Kyle Anderson

These are some of the guys headed to college and NBA within the next 3-4 years as a basketball fan this is the best we are in an ERA were you have so many talented forwards will being playing in the league. although there is no guarentee they will be all studs and franchise players. Just wanted to put that out there just to make you love the game a little bit more and get even more excited for the future because its not just an ERA of great point guards the guys they toss lobs for oops to are pretty damn good too.

Until LBJ shows me any ability in the post I have his as a Point Forward but no where near a PF.

Wow, that list of forwards that are part of our "golden age" really isn’t that impressive.

    Let’s see.

Anthony Randolph only occasionaly starts, has finished three years in the NBA, has career average of 9 points per game and has been traded three times. I like the potential as much as anyone, but this guy has not gotten it done yet.

Beasly and Smith have potential and they sometimes score well but career-wise they are only 15 per game. Neither of them are really liked by their team all that much and they are constantly tradebait. That has to say something.

Turkaglo was kind of neat as a player for a few years, but now seems to have lost a step that he didn’t have to lose. It is unclear if he is a legit NBA player at this point. Maybe he needs right fit, but really in his prime and in a good fit, he topped out at just being a good player in the NBA. He was never even close to being great.

Jeff Green doesn’t start and should have lost starting job to Ibaka before he was traded. He has been traded four times and played for four teams. Get past the nice height and the chisled physique and accept him for what he is. Give him starter minutes and you will get 15 points and 6 rebounds per game. That is just normal NBA numbers, nothing special to see there.

Derrick Williams hasn’t played in NBA. I like his chances, but we have to see how he does. He is by no means a lock to have any impact on the league.

So half the guys on your list are basically just average NBA players. Kind of guys who would be your 4th through 7th guy on most teams. That really isn’t a very impressive list and I don’t think it supports that we are in the golden age of tweeners.

I agree with TallmanNYC. Top to bottom, that list isn’t that impressive. If anything, its extremely top heavy with a ton of guys who have shown a ton of potential. Still plenty to be excited about. Good post.
