Giannis isn’t quite ready yet

Not an indictment of his game or anything. Dude is a straight up beast and had an mvp season this year. However, this series is sort of illustrating that he’s not quite at the level of the truly elite stars in this game (lebron, Durant, Curry, Leonard, harden) in being able to take over a game in a situation where the defense has time to prepare and is geared up to stop him. You could clearly see the difference between him and kawhi in this game and why (right now at least) you would much rather have kawhi in a big game. Kawhis offensive skill set allows him to counter whatever adjustments the defense makes to stop him. Giannis just relies on his physical dominance right now. In the regular season and against 90% of the teams in the league that will work. But against the best teams in a 7 game series it will not. There are too many times he is just resorting to barreling into a set defense because he has no other recourse. He doesn’t have the offensive game to do anything else right now.

Pretty much every great player has been humbled at some point in their career and this is shaping up to be that moment for Giannis. For the truly great ones, it makes them stronger. Giannis has the physical gifts to dominate the league in a way that has never been seen before. But it won’t happen unless his basketball skills, fundamentals and iq catch up. Giannis has a great work ethic for sure, but this may be the push he needs to really take his game to the next level.

Don’t get me wrong, Milwaukee

Don’t get me wrong, Milwaukee can still win this series. But if they do, it will be because the rest of the team stepped up. I don’t think Giannis has it in him to have the type of performance to lead this team to a win right now without significant help.

If the Raptors get through,

If the Raptors get through, Kawhi deserves it.

He has just played hard and earned so much respect. Through all the supposed drama he caused in San Antonio, through injury, claims in the media, whatever - he just kept quiet, put his head down and worked hard to be fit. When he played, he's played hard, hasn't made comments one way or another or signalled intentions, really hasn't proven to have had personal issues with anyone, teammates, media or coaches.

Even if he hates anyone, holds a grudge or can't wait to leave Toronto, you wouldn't know. He has just proven how professional he is and how good a player he is.

Worth every cent, whether the Raps win or lose, he stays or goes. The North should be thankful for the right now - there's between 2 and 9 games left either way. It's been a season worthy of a chip.

Giannis takes playoff loses

Giannis takes playoff losses very seriously but that team was really too excited when they went up 2-0. They rode that high, especially Brook Lopez. They let the 3rd game slip away and didnt bring it in the 4th game. Middleton gauranteed a win in game 4. You dont gaurantee wins at this stage of the playoffs, just shutup and play.

Kawhi's the best. So focused. Doesnt even entertain the medias questions just stays focused. Heres his postgame interview. He's like Coach Pop's sarcasm but he's being serious. Does not let them gas him up.

Reporter:"How do you beat the Bucks 4 times in a row?"

Kawhi:"I dont know I havent done it, uhhh... were takin it one game at a time, Im just excited we got the win tonight".

Reporter:"With one win away until the NBA Finals whats this teams mentality, with history on the line?"

Kawhi:"I mean...I havent even gotten in the lokeroom yet, we just finished the game, but uhh...I mean we wanted to come out here and get the win, we weathered the storm early and ahh I'ma see what were talking about in the locker room".

I don't think this is on Giannis - sometimes you just gotta give

the opponent credit - Toronto has an Oustanding Veteran Defensive team & they have proved to be incredibly versatile in these playoffs

One can make a Very sound argument that after Golden State Milwaukee, Toronto & Phila are the cream of the NBA

That Phila team was Loaded w/ All Star talent & Toronto gave up two really important 27 y/o's in Valcunnis & Wright to get grizled 34 y/o Vet & former Def player of the year Marc Gasol - MG is probably the Only Center in the NBA who gives Embiid trouble

And trading DeRozan for Kawhi was massive b/c Kawhi was able to switch back & forth from Jimmy Butler to Ben Simmons & after Seven games those 2 teams were seperated by a single EPIC circus shot by Kawhi

W/ Milwaukee the Raptors have switched to a picket fence Def that Boston used against a Much diff Phila team Last year that just like the Bucks was Loaded w/ 3 pt shooter (Covington, Ilyasova, Saric, Belinelli, Reddick) - Boston put 3 men at the top of the key walling off the paint so Simmons could Not drive & when Simmons kicked out to 3 pt shooters Boston's defenders ran them off the 3pt line & those guys could Not put the ball on the floor & attack the rim off the dribble - that's why Phila went out & got Harris & Butler

Toronto is doing the Exact same thing to Milwaukee w/ similar results & people forget that Boston / Phila series only went 5 games but 4 of those 5 games came down to the Final minute & Toronto vs Milwauee has been just as close

So I think it's incorrect to say Giannis isn't ready or Simmons & Embiid can't play together (which might be the worst Take I've heard recently when you consider that after 2 seasons together Simmons & Embiid have 2 - 50+ Win seasons & More playoff wins than other Star Duo's Trio's like Kobe & Shaq (11), Steff, Klay & Draymond (8), Stockton & Malone (5) & KD, Westbrook & Harden (7) - they have More playoff wins (12) than ALL of those duo's after 2 years & ONLY one less than Jordan & Pippen (13)

Anyway, my point is this Toronto team has been a Great team for Several years - this is their 3rd Conf Finals in 4 years & ONLY Lebron has knocked them out of the playoffs the last 3 years & they Added TWO former Def player of the year winners in Kawhi & Gasol - this Toronto team is a Great team that has played together for YEARS

So let's give the Raptors credits - the Bucks are not out of it - but it might just be Toronto's time to reach the Finals..... But let's give Toronto Credit & not pull down Milwaukee & / or Phila b/c Any of these 3 teams could have won the Eastern Conf THIS year - None of them are Choking - they are Pushing each other to play Great basketball & the Winner has been Well Deserved
