Get Andrew Wiggins to Canada (or anywhere else)

Coming out of high school looking like T-Mac. Seemed a little lacidasical in college and didn't show his his full promise but still convinced enough people that he was still top pick material. The things he seemed to have great potential for; defense and rebounding for a wing player never seemed to materialize. All I see at this point is an insanely athletic chucker. Thibs has never been really good with developing young players properly and I just don't think Minny will be it for him but I think thats as much about him as it is the coaching staff. Dude needs to get out of there but his contract locks him in pretty badly. I'd love to see him back in Canada and maybe being at home would invigorate him but I doubt Ujiri takes a chance on a guy like him even when Leonard leaves. They could use a high potential face of the franchise with Derozan gone and Lowry slowing down but thats just a pipe dream for me. What do you guys think? Is he done in Minny? Or just not ever going to be the player some teams think? Or where do we think he'd fit in well if he did get moved?

Wiggins

If Leonard leaves the Raps would be the place to maximize Wiggins, as his defensive deficiencies would be covered up by Danny Green and OG Anunoby and they have plenty of rebounding and floor spacing. The bigger problem is that Wiggins doesn't do anything at an above average level besides posting up. You'd almost think that he only saw highlights of aging MJ and said "that's who I should be" instead of young MJ driving and dunking on everyone. Wiggins is the most disappointing prospect I've ever watched, an incredible athlete who plays with zero force. I think he's better than he played last year, but it seems like his destiny is on the Rudy Gay trajectory.

I never really understood the

I never really understood the hype surrounding Wiggins coming out of high school and I think it has sort of created an impossible level of expectation to live up to. This guy was being billed as the next superstar just based on his athletic ability, but didn’t really have a body or a skill set that was anywhere near nba ready when he came into the league. He showed steady improvement his first 3 seasons before regressing somewhat last year. But I think that was due to his opportunities being diminished with the presence of butler more than anything.

While there are parts of Wiggins game that are underdeveloped, the physical tools that made him such a high level prospect in the first place are still there and he’s still just 23 years old. While he might not have lived up to enormous expectations, he hasn’t exactly been a bust either. I think it would be a mistake for Minnesota to look to deal him now (although if they did I doubt there would be a shortage of suitors). I really don’t see butler being there for the long haul, and I always viewed him more as a bridge to being competitive than a long-term franchise player anyway. To me, towns and Wiggins are still the guys they should be building around.

He doesn't want that

He doesn't want that pressure...Dude doesn't want to be great, plays with no passion. Needs to be a second option on a team. EVERY NBA player has a clip of them playing somewhere this summer, haveyou seen one of Wiggins? Not I..

Lol. Just because it isn’t

Lol. Just because it isn’t documented on social media for the world to see doesn’t mean he isn’t working on his game.

Wiggins

i understand the hype of Wiggins right out of high school and even at Kansas. I've watched every game from his rookie season and about 90percent of the following 3 years. His rookie campaign was pretty solid, he developed a nice step back mid range shot and added his spin move close to the basket. Since then he hasn't added anything to his game.

The one thing I don't understand is as a coach why wouldn't you tell him to stop taking difficult fade always within a few feet of the 3 point line over and over. The only thing I can come up with is Thibs and company truest believe those &$#%#[email protected]! will start falling regularly in a couple years.

I'm not a big Wiggins fan, he's a scorer who isn't good at scoring, he should be a pippen caliber player who does a lot of things well, instead he just kinda drifts through games and shoots too many difficult shots. Their still is a chance he wakes up and becomes a legit player. I think Toronto would be perfect for him.

He'd put up solid stats

He'd put up solid stats across his first 3 years, had a regression last year but in a much more successful team year but there seems a bit of spark missing. Does he want to be the Man on a lesser team or a 2nd or 3rd string on a bigger team.

A move to Toronto does make sense but the trade would be interesting.

He is obviously getting paid

He is obviously getting paid to mich to be a 6th man, but that may be where his career is headed.

He can come on with a 2nd unit and drop 15-16ppg where his defense (or lack of) isn't really a much of an issue.

WIggins the riddle...

The issue with Wiggins: What is he? Is he a scorer? Does he need a change of scenary? Can he get on the defensive end?

Personally I don't fully know what I would do with him as there just seems to be something he is missing that makes him that Tmac or at least P.G level player..

It is either one of two things he is just developing slowly-I think his %'s did improve so far under Thibs though..But the worrying thing is the defensive side..

or

Do you trade him and get as much as you can before people reliase he is either a Demar Derozen clone or worse a Rudy Gay clone...

The problem is what could they legit get back for him that makes sense for both sides?

The teams I could see maybe taking a chance if they were up for mixing it up are as follows:

Portland-C.J Mcollum and something else if the Blazers want to partially hit reset...This moves butler to the sf position

Orlando-Wiggins for Aaron Gordon and something else? Maybe someone like Evan Fournier?. Magic like long athletic players-See Bamba and Issac...Both need a change and this could work for both.

Klove+ a young player for Wiggins straight trade... Comes full circle and both make more sense on the other side K love rounds out the vet core and would be a nice fit with Towns and Wiggins gets to go back and be the man on a young team looking for lotto balls.

Raptors if Kawhi legit says by deadline I want out... Butler and Thibs may convince Kawhi that they are a grind out organization that has their players back.. Worst case they have Wiggins off the books..Raptors hit full reset and build around Wiggins and trade all vets off for picks and reasonable talent.

Don't get me wrong I could also see Wiggins still be in Minny come the playoffs.
