bobbybParticipantIt doesnt work, it looks good on paper but not in reality. How many teams really succeeded in FA? Aquiring by trade is not the same as FA. When an All star gets traded he feels disrespected by his team.Zach Randolph still feels dissed by the Knicks. He is quoted ” whydo they want to clear cap space when they have an All Star PF”.And he came out with a vengence. Look at recent history at success teams, #1 Lakers Homegrown talent plus trade, # 2 Celtics Homegrown talent plus Trades. # 3 Cavs Homegrown talent plus Trades. ….. How many teams worked out with big contract to free agents. Elton Brand, ( didnt make playoffs.) Gilbert Areanas , ( disaster, lucky he isnt in prison), Baron Davis( not the same guy that tore up the Mavs in the first round a few years ago.)

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantim with you all the way. free agency alone doesnt work, but like you said add some homegrown talent and a good trade and your all set. to be succesful in this league you have to have a combination of the three. you have to be able to draft quality startes or role players(like boston and LA) or else you end up overpaying for them. look at NOH they overpaid for peterson and posey and couldnt wait to get rid of them. free agency gives teams a change to add a crucial piece to the puzzle but its not the way to build a team. this offseason miami only has two guys on its roster so one they sign a big free agent to play with wade they will have to overpay for the tony allens and brian scalabrines of the NBA.

TyroberParticipantElton Brand, Gilbert Arenas, and Baron Davis are NOT near on the same level as Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. These guys are championship players. Brand, Arenas, and Davis are former allstars. I agree with you somewhat bobbyb but this year is where some real teams can build a winning team through free agency and it probably wont happen again
