delfamParticipantThis should be a really good game, just some thoughts:
– can Bradley Beal cover Kris Joseph? Joseph doesn’t have the best shot in the world but he has a big height advantage which could give Beal trouble.
– Triche and Jardine are pretty big and physical guards, can Walker and Boynton match up physcially with them?
– Can Patric Young cover Fab Melo with his height disadvantage?
– Does Florida have enough depth to match up with Syracuse’s bench?

JoeWolf1I don’t think Fab Melo will give Young any trouble at all. He’s a strong 6’9” and Melo has no offensive game and isn’t very aggressive. I think Young has the better game easily, he might get a shot or two blocked by Melo, but that is about it.
It took a 6’6” center playing on one of the worst D1 teams last year to allow Melo to hit double digits. I don’t see it happening against Young.

ultrablue123ParticipantMy question is can James Southerland have a good game against GOOD competition? He’s been scoring a lot against the lower skilled teams, but against Stanford and VA Tech he didn’t do anything.
Also don’t sleep on Waiters. He’s looking like SU’s 2nd best player this year.

JunkYardDogParticipantmelo imrpoved his physical attributes and seems to have lost weight… maybe it could help him being more efficient.

JNixonParticipantFlorida competes better against big teams than I would’ve thought for a team that lacks size as much as they do.

TRC1991ParticipantErving Walker is a gamer…wow…ive seen the gators play numerous times but it is very noticable that Walker is their go-to guy at this point. Boynton and Beal were kind of quiet in the 1st half and I believe Young was battling foul trouble which is not good for a team with a bruised frontcourt. Cuse plays a little out of control but theyre incredibly deep and talented

Dale WorthingtonParticipantMy grandson’s Winnie the Pooh blanket could cover Fab Melo. Dude moves like an elderly woman in a wheelchair.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantI’m not sure if they have mentioned it but Erik Murphy being out for Florida is actually a pretty significant blow. He doesn’t get mentioned much b/c of their amazing backcourt and Patty Young but MurphDawg provides a lot of depth and versatility.

ProudGrandpaParticipantScoop jardine just scored his 1000th point. Aren’t we all so happy for him?

cuseflynn10ParticipantFab Melo is showing signs of positive growth. He’s averaging 6 points 5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks a game. They aren’t great numbers, but hes only averaging 22 minutes per game. He’s definitely improving. He lost 30 pounds and looks to be dedicated to getting better. I think he’ll probably be a four year player that can average a double double in his senior season if he continues at his current pace. At this point, I think he’ll probably get drafted by some team down the road. It’s still early, but who doesn’t want a 7’0 center, even if he’s just coming off the bench.
As for the game, Florida had some good life in the second half shooting the 3 ball. They made 5 three’s in a little over 5 minutes. Luckily for me, a Syracuse fan, Scoop Jardine put the team on his back. From the preseason until now I wanted Triche and Waiters to start, but Scoop is a 5th year senior, and even with the turnovers he makes, he still gets a lot of steals, assists, and points. I feel bad for Dion Waiters and Michael Carter Williams who won’t get a chance to start until they are juniors. This Cuse team has depth to make a long run this season. Florida looked good, but were getting destroyed on the boards. I think they’ll need to improve on the boards if they want to make a serious run (Syracuse had 14 offensive rebounds.)

Bmore_DCParticipanti think the sleeper on Cuse is CJ Fair…that dude is a baller….almost had a double-double off the bench and is always around the ball…
and to all you Fab Melo haters, he has completly changed his game around…hes a legit center and you would love him on your team i dont care what you say…
joseph needs to be more agressive…
my main question is, why does Christmas start and then only play 2 minutes??? haha…jimmy b baby
beal didnt impress me at all…Florida has some good shooters tho…great game

Wavy BagelsParticipantBeal looked good, just couldn’t get a darn shot off. But that didn’t stop him from contributing in other areas (10 Rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks, etc.) and his defense looks promising.

lalailaParticipantyeah Beal is amazing ! yes he had off night shooting wise but his all around is not only better than typical tweeners(like Rivers) but it’s actually become his strength he can pass defend BLOCK AND REBOUND..9.8 rebounds is the last 4 games is amazing..and he really looks 6’5 with the frame to be very strong..
definitely better prospect than Rivers in my eyes
