Dante Exum has hired an agent and will enter the draft. Not sure if anyone else has started this topic, but man am I excited to see a fellow Australian mix it up with the big names of this draft. I remember about to years ago after a youth worlds tournament, I believe the Under 18’s, this site did a prospect analysis of each team, and back then Dante was considered a fringe college D1 player, man how things have changed. I’ve watched this guy play in my area for 7 years now, and I’m really excited to see what he can do on the biggest of all stages. What do you guys think he can do, and where do you think he will get picked?

I think he’ll be drafted in the top 6. If he’d been playing college ball, he’d probably have been in the conversation for top two. He still may if he shows well in the combine and pre draft workouts.

That’s interesting news! Not like it came out of nowhere but I really want to see this kid play NBA ball next year.

As a guy from down under can you give us some thoughts on him please!? I would really like to know what do you think makes him special and more important what can you say about his weaknesses, his jumper and finally which position will he play in the league?

i’ve read several times now that he has very good/sick handles but isn’t really a point guard. Is he a shooting guard without a jumper or a point guard in the making?

He’s a vomco guard in the good way, he has tight handles and loves to penetrate the paint and he’s a great finisher below the rim, think of Drose minus the dunks, but he has some off-ball IQ and slashing that make him a reasonable 2 guard as well (scored 17 in last years hoop summit in his first time playing offball with a good pass first point guard). His catch and shoot isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but it’s definetly not a strong suit, and he has almost no shot off the dribble. He’s a decent passer, but his potential there hasn’t really been explored since he could score so easily in international competetion. He’s got the size, athelticism, and tools to be a good player on the defensive end at either position.

He needs to work on his desicion making, sometimes he gets to involved in trying to score and misses easier oppurtnities, his shot is still a work in progress, and his ability to play with stiffr competetion as a passer and scorer remain to be seen.

Overall, he’s my personal favorite prospect this year.

Edit: I’m hoping he gets picked as the first point guard off the board. I see him fitting in with the magic really well alongside Oladipo, but may get lost if the magic get too high a pick. I can see him going as high as 4 if the right team has the pick, or a GM isn’t impressed with one of the big three.

I have had a gut feeling since July or August or so that Dante Exum will be an L.A. Laker.

I think that Exum will be top 3. I believe he’s the 4th best prospect after Embiid, Wiggins and Parker, however I believe at least one of those guys will stay in college or there’s a small possibility a GM will reach.

I know a lot of people are high on Marcus Smart (myself included), but there’s no way he goes ahead of Exum.
