To European Baller please stop with so much post about these guys in Europe and how they should be in the draft.

I understand your saying that some guys deserve to be in it but seriously can you chill.

European basketball isnt the same as the NBA ….Anthony Parker was amazing in the Euroleague and won 3 championship and 2 MVPs in just 4 season but in the NBA he was just a typical starter and nothing special. As for Rubio he never averaged over 7 points and 5 assist but has already increased both stats by 3 in the NBA and hasnt even played half a season yet,and is basically second in the rookie race.

I doubt any of those guys will be as good as Rubio in the NBA so stop comparing them to him,Im not saying there is a 100% chance that Rubio will always be the better NBA player but the chances of them even being close are pretty slim.

If he actually just gave reasons why these players should be drafted and more information on them as basketball players. You know, rather than claiming we are all racist against Greek people. My original name was Michaelos Visenbergakatsostamos. If that is not Greek, I do not know what is. McOikos is always bigging up the best yogurt in the world.

Plus, NBADraft.net has Anthony Davis #1, who is clearly of Greek heritage judging by his eyebrows. I am being sarcastic obviously, but I do not think their is any racism against Greek players. Greece obviously has had a number of fantastic players amongst the best in Europe at numerous levels. The issue is, those players seem to have less interest in playing in the NBA as role guys rather than having larger roles in Europe.

You may say I am wrong, but that certainly appears to be the case. If these guys were star caliber NBA players, they would be in the NBA. They are just really high level players who probably are not star NBA caliber. There are not that many European players that sign for huge deals (lets say, over 7 million per year) after their rookie contracts. You have (as guys who actually came from playing in Europe, even if they are not European):

    • Dirk Nowitzki
    • Manu Ginobili
    • Tony Parker
    • Pau Gasol
    • Marc Gasol
    • Luis Scola
    • Andrea Bargnani
    • Danilo Gallinari
    • Mehmet Okur
    • Hedo Turkoglu
    • Boris Diaw
    • Jose Calderon

I apologize if I am missing anyone, but notice a trend? These are mostly guys over 6’9. The only guys who have signed fat deals after their rookie years who have been guards seem to be that fateful Spurs duo and Jose Calderon, who is incredibly overpaid. Honestly, many of these guys can come over and contribute, but than eventually are happier with larger roles making a nice salary back in Europe.

I for one would be surprised if Rudy Fernandez, who I believed could be one of those fat second deal guys but will probably not be a highly sought after free agent, does not roll back to Spain after this season. Rudy is an awesome player. Much like Juan Calderon, he can play a role in the NBA. But, in Europe, they are superstars. I think this plays more into it than you seem to think, European Baller.

They get to play in their home country and play a major role. I honestly believe that it is not necessarily every European players dream to play in the NBA, that is unless they can be a star. That does not seem to happen all of that often. Are they talented enough to be drafted? Probably. But are they in it to play in the NBA? I am not sure. If they were, than there would be a number of Greek players on NBA rosters. Since there are not, I would say that this theory is probably more logical than hating really long last names that tend to end in an "s".

I know EuroBaller has had some rather harsh encounters with other posters as recently as last week, but just yesterday and today I was able to have a civiliced intelectual conversation with him(Some thing Basketball Guru still needs to learn how to do). He gives valid points and explains his reasoning, and quite frankly, I sort of agree with some of what he says, I can’t comment on the other stuff as I am illiterate when it comes to EuropeanBall, lol, but the only problem is that gets defensive rather easily, but I don’t mind him trying to promote Greek guys as long as he doesn’t keep insisting that they be included in the mock.

Like when he said some dude needs to be on the draft board because he hit two cluch free-throws in the final seconds of the game.  He excluded the fact that those were the only two points he scored in 16 minutes of play and averages 5ppg as a 22 year-old.

On Spurstalk.com there´s also one poster (going with the nickname of Kill Bill Pana or Manu_ Forever), who is posting exact the same things and reacts in an almost aggressive manner if people argue his opinions. I wouldn´t be surprised if they are the same person.

MikeyV hit the nail on the head. ”They get to play in their home country and play a major role”. Dejan Bodiroga is by far the best European player I’ve ever seen that didn’t play in the NBA, who I believe could have contributed at a high level but he never wanted to leave Europe.

I’ve got 1 issue with europeanballer : sometimes what he explaines, is true but I’m french and I don’t think "every" french prospect should be a legit first rounder (for example andrew albicy, andrew jackson ludovic vaty these recent years… and now rudy gobert).

I don’t like his lack of "hindsight" about greek prospects and especially when he posted with agressivness or when he refered to racism).

Scola is also Argentinian, but he played professionally in Europe before playing in the NBA than made over 7 million dollars. That is why I said:

(as guys who actually came from playing in Europe, even if they are not European)

Manu played and won a Euroleague title with Kinder Bologna. Luis played for Spanish team Saski Baskonia. Hence, guys who actually came from playing in Europe, even if they are not European.

Bodiroga would have been a great addition to the Kings when they were going at the Lakers. Even despite being painfully unathletic, he was so skilled he could have been a really good NBA player.

Just to clarify, Parker won 2 Euroleague championships, not 3.
