DolanCareParticipantI’ve been starting to look into the 2nd round more seriously now that the draft is around the corner. As always, the foreign players are the hardest the evaluate. Not only do I seldom watch games outside of the NCAA/NBA, but the flow and competition level can be very erratic in European leagues outside of the ACB. I still don’t know what to make of Schroeder.
I’m starting this thread to see what you guys think of the International crop that is projected to be drafted in the second round.
The INTL player that I have confidence with is Nemanja Nedovic. I’ve watched a lot of tape of his in the past 3 days and his athleticism and quickness are NBA level. More importantly, he has produced consistently in the VTB League which has a competition level higher than that of Div-1.
Nedovic is not the stereotypical pure shooter that European players are expected to be. He excels in transition or situations where he gets an open lane. What’s really impressive is his finishing ability once he gets to the rim. He’ll make a great sixth man in a few seasons.
What do you guys think?

ndq1125ParticipantI like Nedovic and think he could be a good draft and stash for the grizzlies as an insurance policy if Wroten doesn’t pan out. Another guy I like who isn’t getting any publicity as a draft and stash is Janis Timma out of Latvia, I’m not to sure how competitive his league is but he looks like a good wing prospect that can polish for a couple years and make a nice splash in the league.

domeico7ParticipantAlex Abrines is gold. Long, athletic and young, Proved himself at Euroleague level.

safdParticipantHe played Euroleague, but only important minutes against Panathinaikos and because of injuries. The others games he played didnt care a lot, he played when the games were won or when Barcelona didnt need more wins to qualify….
I hope he will have more minutes next season, our roster is becoming old and we need Abrines, Rabaseda and Todorovic to develop!! (and Hezonja of course!!!)

GrovesinternationalParticipantI’m pretty high on Schroeder, he’s Rondo-esque but he’s more turnover prone, has smaller hands and a better spot up shot. He’s young and can develop into a good defender with his length and athleticism. He runs the pick and roll well and is a great passer.
I’m don’t like Gobert much, his length is amazing but he gets pushed around in the post and doesn’t have much athleticism. He will need to develop his strength and weak offensive game. He doesn’t block as many shots as his huge reach and wingspan suggest he should.
I like Nedovic as a prospect in the mid 2nd round, he’s an athletic point guard who played against grown men and has shown great ability, needs to work on his shlot and other skill areas

NihochuParticipantI think Lypovyy has to given a shot, he isn’t even in the second round mock on this site and he was MVP of Eurocamp last year and he did very well this year

I think you know zero about international basketball.

DolanCareParticipantI somehow knew this topic was going to unearth you. Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like you’re low on Nedovic.
I’m still unclear if you indeed know anything about international basketball yourself. You knew about Giannis before his name broke on US sites. But other than that you don’t seem like a trove of knowledge. Never understand why you don’t lay out your opinion on prospects instead of hurling insults. But again, that may be on account of you not having an opinion outside of:
‘Greek players >> other humans’

Anton123ParticipantI want to jump to European Baller’s defense a bit.
While he does appear to be somewhat sociopathic and constantly angry and immature, he does have genuine, whilst extremely biased knowledge. He even often proves his point (for example him posting team photos to prove a players height) and he knows a lot about many European and ESPECIALLY Greek players.0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/24/2013 - 5:50am #804428
