To be clear I don’t know the content of the discusssion it was on the TV in my works cafe. No Volume, just a glimpse

    Knicks Get:

    Melo

    Twolves Get:

    A. Randolph

    E. Curry

    Denver Gets:

    Chandler

    Brewer

    Minn 1st rd Pick

I believe the Knicks would get one more piece. Just barely caught it. Anyone else see the rumor on ESPN?

If Donnie Walsh pulls off that deal then it would be a great move for the Knicks.

Why O Why Minny? How does this favor Minny. They are giving up a Top 5 pick in this years draft. They can’t lottery protect it because they have to give up next years pick No matter what to the Clippers for the S.Cassel>M.Garic trade from 3-4 years back.Teams can’t go consecitive years without a draft pick. I think it’s called Stephian rule after a former Cavs owner from the 80’s.I guess they could give Denver the 1st rnd pick that they got in the Al.Jeff trade, it’s a 1st rnd from Uth via Grizzlies top 14 protected.  A.Randolph better turn into a great player, will they resign him and make him apart of the rotation.

I think Denver will be ok with this Chandler & Brewer are both great defenders, who are coming off the books this year. They could resign or let them go. However, I would have Knicks take back that Al.Harriton contract. That has 3 yrs/w 27mill on it.

The Stephian rule would mean that Minny could not give up their first rounder this year I’d assume unless the pick to the Clippers is classed differently as it’s not a specific year’s pick. I cannot see even David Kahn being that dumb, if he was then Donnie Walsh might get Rubio if he asked nicely!

Knicks would have no real problem having Harrington back as Walsh has signed him 3 times during his career I believe and he’d fit back into the D’Antoni system.

The Wolves have 3 first round picks this year, the first rounder they give up isn’t going to be there own.

^^^^ ohh ok so that settles that ?. If they take ARandolph i think they should sign him. Give him playing time & see what he can do. I don’t know how long a player has upside when they have been 8th-9th man on 2 teams. But maybe he can go to Minny and produce.

I don’t see how Randolph fits in with the Wolves, he won’t start as long as Love and Beasley are on the team and he hasn’t proven he knows what to do coming off the bench yet.

What pick the Knicks don’t have their own pick this year the Rockets have the right to swap.

Also the Knicks pick next year is basically unprotected to the Rockets and because of league rules you can’t trade away your own pick 2 years in a row the Knicks can’t use it in a trade.

Either way the Knicks are a playoff team and that draft pick won’t be a lottery pick.

These picks can be overrated look at the 2010 Knicks 1st the Jazz has that worked out for them I’m guessing it hasn’t.

Denver should take the deal since Curry’s contract has been mostly paid and maybe the Knicks can give them Azubuike too since insurance pays most of that contract.  If not trade Mello to a team as a rental either Dallas, Houston or another team that might just want Mello to get into the playoffs or sell tickets.

Just a heads up.  The Wolves play some of their best ball with Love at the 5 against non-elite centers and Tolliver/Beasley rounding out the 4/3.  If the Wolves pick up Randolph I suspect that he’d largely fill in for Tolliver in this line up.  The other option would be to play with the second unit.  He’d be a rebounder while Love takes a breather that can provide energy and run the floor.  Ridnour is a great push the pace PG, but our current bigs (Pekovic, Darko, Tolliver and Love) aren’t great at running the floor and finishing on the break.  And if Rubio does come over it’d be nice to have another body that can run the floor with Wes Johnson on the break.
