Very good coaching assessment with video break down of ERIK SPOELSTRA during the Finals…http://nbaplaybook.com/2011/06/14/nba-finals-coaching-assessment-erik-spoelstra/#more-15067…the biggest suprise that I saw was that there was no line-up with the BIG 3 that had a positve plus/minus.  I also felt that James Jones should have been given a shot to play over Eddie House as well.

i think it would not have made a big difference to play jones over house. they both are 3-point specialists jones is just  bigger. and i think house did not play so bad. at least they did not lost because of eddie house playing over james jones…

i think it is spoelstra who should have kicked lebrons butt and make him be agressive. if you have the best basketball talent in the world on your team and he does not play 100% than always some blame has to be on the coach. maybe not as much as on the player but you still have to question why he could not make lebron do more. that would have helped the heat much more… but i am happy he didn´t and dirk won his ring!

Miami didn’t really run much of an offense all season. They got away from the one on one and swinging the ball around the perimiter towards the end of the season as they started to gel, but they were still prone to this kind of play.  I also think Bosh was right for asking for the ball, if you’re a skilled power forward like him and the ball just keeps getting swung around the outside or having James or Wade run the clock down to take a one on one shot that would be very frustrating, and not the most effective way to play basketball.

Spoelstra proved, in my opinion, that he can coach defense and implement a defensive mindset I thought was not attainable for that Miami squad, but I think he lacks as an offense X’s and O’s guy as well as a guy who knows what he can get out of his bench players.  Just to compare him to his Finals opponent Rick Carlise who knew that he could put Brian Cardinal in for a certain amount of time against a lineup and he would be okay, but then knowing when to take him out too.  Spoelsra would just stop playing guys, and throw someone else in rather than having the experience and knowledge as to when and when not to play guys.

In my opinion, Miami has to run an offense to win a title.  They are the best team in the league on the break and when they play defense the way they do Miami can hang with anyone and come back in a game quick, but they couldn’t close because they couldn’t figure out a zone, not because they don’t have the players too, but because they don’t really run much of an offense and they’ve adopted a lot of bad habits as a result.

They should, honestly, be running the offence through Bosh. PnRs with Lebron/Wade and Bosh, post ups for Bosh, whatever. Get him going early, then let Wade and Lebron create when teams are forced to really key into Bosh defensively.

Of course, I doubt Wade and Lebron would be willing to take a backseat to Bosh like that. They seemed content to play hero ball between each other, despite the fact it wasn’t working, and that press conference they did after…ugh. "I make lots of money so I don’t care" is a real nice way for Lebron to show he’s a legend in the making.

James Jones is a better defender than Eddie House (because he plays no D).  That reason alone should let Jones play more than House, but I heard James Jones was injured so he just couldn’t play.  It’s not Spoelstra’s fault.

Wolf and Shang hit the nail on the head. He has designed and implimented a great Defensive scheme custom fit to the players he has. The offense is lacking a true go to set beyond a hi iso or a top of the key pick n roll. He needs some help there. An offensive minded assitant would help. On results alone he has to get an A. He didn’t have a good NBA finals so to be fair he gets a B+ overall for this season.

Chalmers and Haslem with two of the big three plus a shooter seems to be their best bet.
