Ed Davis has broken bone in his wrist, and will be out 6 weeks. This totally kills any hope North Carolina had to make the tourney, but do you think he still will declare, or will he come back for another year?

If he’s smart, he’ll stay in school another year. He hasn’t led his team anywhere…And it doesn’t seem as though he will lead them to the NCAA tournament. At least Steph Curry did that much with no help. And before everyone says it’s a down year for North Carolina (by their standards, it is) the 10th man on that team should be able to kill in the Mountain West Conference. And I don’t want to hear about recruits because Syracuse has one player on the team who was a top 50 player coming out of high schoo. And Syracuse has two starters who were ranked 500 or higher.

I think he should declare, because he’ll expose himself probably, and he’s not as high in upside as everyone thinks. He’s the same player he was last year, but he just gets more minutes now. All the things he can improve on now can be improved as easily in the pros as they can be in college. I’ve never really been high on him, but he’s definitely someone who’s 1st round worthy. Not lottery IMO.

IMO he’s not all that great. So considering his projected draft position, he would probably be better off to declare this year than risk showing his true skill(or lack there of) next year in college.

The Tar Heels are bringing in perhaps the best passer in the 2010 recruiting class, Kendall Marshall. They’re also bringing in two top-10 wings, Harrison Barnes and Reggie Bullock. And Deon Thompson is graduating.

If I’m Davis, I’m looking at these developments as my chance to be a leader on a really good team. He’s averaged 13.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game, and at least the scoring could easily go up with Marshall running the show. Great guard play makes big men better, and the Tar Heels have had the opposite this season, with one of the worst starting back courts in the entire ACC.

I’m not really sure why the criticism is so rampant. What does Davis have to do to prove himself? He’s shoooting 57.8 percent from the field, but his teammates are too inept to get him the ball. He’s also managed to cut down on his fouls despite an increase in minutes.

The only reason a player like Davis should come back is if he feels he has a clear set of things to improve on or if he wants to experience college success (as a starter, in Davis’ case). He needs to become more assertive and he needs to improve his actual moves, both facing up and back-to-the-basket. He also needs to show that this wrist injury won’t affect him long-term, which isn’t much of a concern but is worth considering. These are realistic goals, and he would be wise to return.

i agree with being confused about why davis is getting so much flak. ill wait to see what the new guys are gonna do first because this years freshmen were highly ranked and expected to do more then they have

I think it’s because he plays like a Center but with a PF’s height, but he’s not strong or big enough to play on the low block as much as he does. And on top of being as low post reliant as he is, he doesn’t have enough moves.

I like Ed Davis. I think he might be a top 10 pick because when I watch the games, he has some good post play. Like….really good.

i dont know howmuch he weights but d.arthur was 216

kurt thomas was 221
pj brown was 225..
i dont think teams care to much about weight since weight can be gained

Like I said, a good deal smaller. That’s 3 players. I think Ed Davis is comparable to Darrell Arthur, and that’s my new comparison for him, thanks for bringing him up. I think Ed Davis is solid, but would you take a player with a Darrell Arthur/P.J. Brown/Kurt Thomas type potential in the lottery? That’s what it comes down to to me. I wouldn’t, but I would definitely take each of those 3 at some past in the 1st round. I feel the same way about Davis. I also don’t think he’ll ever be alot bigger than he is right now, because of how narrow is shoulders are.

there were alot more around the 225 weight i just didnt feel likeputting them down. and as far as taking them in lotto. yes its possible..you have seen my post of past top 5 picks.. if i put top 13 picks the players get pretty bad
