In the game against the Hawks Paul Millsap was shooting a free throw and Dwight checked into the game. Before Millsap shot his 2nd free throw, Dwight asked the official for the ball and got it for a second. When Millsap got the ball, he noticed it was very sticky and the refs removed the gameball from the game for a new one. Dwight sprayed a substance onto his hands before he checked in.

I don’t exactly know how a team gets punished for something like this but the fact that Dwight said after the game that he is doing it for the last 5 years might probably mean BIG trouble since it is illegal to use substances like that in the NBA.

The League is investigating this incident and I wouldn’t he surprised if there will follow a very hefty fine for both him and the Rockets. What does the Forum thinks about this?

My big question is why use this spray at all?  Is Dwight Howard such a klutz that he needs adhesive on his hands to handle the rock?  And why does he think that using this sticky spray is ok to begin with?  Is he that clueless?  Dwight Howard continues to tarnish his own brand.  I hope the NBA comes down on him hard.  It’s like a Will Ferrell movie about a low budget ABA team in the 70s.

Dwight Howard is an idiot.  I have never liked the guy.  He’s a childish immature brat.  THe fact thathe could be a moron and use some illegal substance doesn’t surprise me one bit.  Dwight could’ve been an all-time great, but he’s just a bum in my opinion.  Sorry for the rant, but I am sick of hearing about this guy.

My favorite part was how afterwards he admitted to using it for years.  I’m sure the league will gladly use that against him in his punishment.

I’ll just wait on the league’s review of the situation.  No one has confirmed that it was stickum. I hope he wouldn’t be clueless enough to use stickum. If indeed it was a banned substance, how the hell has he gotten away with using for 5 years? I can tell he didn’t think anything was wrong with it because he used it in front of everyone.

Haha. I kinda feel sorry for Dwight Howard.

Hes trying his hardest to be popular, but hes just such a bonehead.

Hes gotten to that stage of adorable bimbo for me. Sorta like Javale McGee, or Ralph Wiggum.

The Ball sticking to your hand has got to hurt his shot though. I never heard of anyone even thinking about using stickum for basketball. Seems like it woul help you rebound but hurt your shot. I just don’t get the benefit of even using it. Neither does the NBA since they don’t ever check for it.

He is so narcissistic I think he’s playing the long excuse for his poor free throw shooting.

Every shooting coach that’s ever lost their jobs due to poor results with Dwights shooting got excited watching this.

How has he been using this for 5 years and no one (refs or players) ever noticed it like how Paul Milsap did?

Maybe because Kobe or Harden don’t like to share the ball with him lol but I was asking me the same. There must be plenty of video material btw…

On a sidenote LeBrons powder toss might have been a better idea even if I don’t like it personally.

I just read the following on NBA.com via thevertical.com and I have to say I’m VERY surprised and not less confused:

The NBA will not fine or suspend the Rockets center for use of an adhesive substance Saturday night in Atlanta, but sent a memo to all 30 teams that its usage is “strictly prohibited,” league sources said, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Following a team practice Monday in Oklahoma City, where the Rockets will face the Thunder Tuesday night, Howard defended his reputation. “I just think that it’s getting overblown, like I’m doing something crazy,” he said. “But again, I’ve never been a cheater, never been the type of player that has to do something illegal to win. It’s upsetting, but I can’t control it now.”

Howard cooperated with NBA security officials over the past day, and the league advised teams Monday that all equipment used for games must be appropriate for a basketball and any substance that could gain an advantage is not prohibited.

Maybe my english is not the best but I thought it is illegal to use substances like this and Howard definetly said he not only used it in the game but also for FIVE FRICKIN YEARS.

How can he become away with this and what exacly does the last sentece mean if it’s not allowed to use substances like that. MJ was fined for wearing his colored Jordans back than since shoes had to be white and he continued to wear them since it was not only the best Nike marketing move but obviously it’s not an advantage what kind of colour your shoes have unlike something like to use an illigal substance FOR YEARS!?!

So they’re ruling it strictly prohibited but not fining or suspending him? I don’t get it. That’s like being pulled over for driving 100 mph and only getting a warning.
